Internet dress????

MsJackson78, 7 October, 2009 at 21:35 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi All

I am on quite a small budget and was hoping to get a dress for around £300 but that isnt looking very promising unless I order off the internet!!! one site in particular has been recommended Milly Bridal. Has anyone ordered their dress off the internet? Any advise would be gratefully received I dont want to order something for couple of 100 quid to find it was a waste of money and end up having to buy from a shop.

I'm sorry but can't help with the online dresses but you might be able to get a dress within your budget from a bridal shop. Look out for sales and they usually always have a load of sample dresses that they are selling sometimes less than half price.

    Hope this helps

    Hiya

Sorry I havent personally, but didnt want to read and run....

There are a lot of sites which are popular, try bestbridalprices and lightinthebox, Im sure there will be someone along in a min who has had experiences with one of these two.

    Good luck ?

I'm hoping to order my dress through the internet company style notes & they suggested that I order a sample dress and keep it for 7 days & return it only paying the £6 postage and whatever postage it costs me to send it back to Liverpool. They currently have a sample of a dress of a Suzanne Neville Dress (Fontaines) in a size 10 (but lace up so what more than likely go bigger). They are selling this dress for £99 and when I tried it on (it was gorgeous when I tried it on & if I hadn't already bought mine I would consider this 1 myself) & the retail price was £2,000. As I said I haven't yet ordered my bridesmaids dress (am ordering a sample for the next weekend I'm home, which'll be at the end of this month) but it could be worth a go. They've been very quick to respond to my many emails! Here is the link & I hope its helpful.

Thanks all for replies so far. Blackcat looked at your site link looks really good altho there isnt as much choice as I would have hoped for. I am quite nervous about buying online but looking like its going to be my best option, in terms of my budget anyways.

Jones I had estimated £300 in my budget for my dress most wedding dresses I have seen don't come close to that price in the shops unfortunately. I am going to keep looking shopping tomorrow with a friend but with only 5 months to go dont want to leave it too long hoping to see a bargain.

    Hey hun,

Just be careful if you do order off the net (particularly America) because you may get charged tax at customs....can't remember if it's 22% or 30%.... Coming from the East they tend to be marked as a gift, so you wont get taxed. I've heard stories though that they'll put a cheaper value on the packaging so it qualifies as a gift, but be careful because if the parcel gets lost in the post then you'll only be credited with that amount xx

HTH and sorry, not meaning to scare you. just thought I'd warn you that if you're on a really tight budget it may be better waiting for the sales! I know TheWeddingSale.com every couple of months hires out a few Berketex' for a day and do dresses from £99 xx

Thanks mummy2hannah I have booked tickets for theweddingsale as they are going to be in a town near me in couple of weeks time ? and even better my day out saturday with my best friend was a very successful day I found a beautiful dress and have decided that I am going to add to me budget wooohoooo! I am hoping the dress might be at the wedding sale but if not I will be ordering from the local shop as it is absolutely stunning. Has meant doubling my dress budget tho whoops but it is worth it ?

Thanks for the replies advice is always helpful. I dont think I would be brave enough to order off internet as there are mixed reviews.

    Hi MsJackson78,

I would hold out for the bridal shop sales.

My dress budget was £250-£300 And fair enough I ended up spending £395 on a dress in the sale, which one month later was not supposed to be in the sale and went back up to £920!!! But The rails started from £99 to make space for new stock!!! and my tiara cost £6 in the sale!

So I would have a good look after Christmas! Plus you can't beat the trying on it's a big part of the whole experience.

    Good Luck

    Hey lizzyleek

I am going to theweddingsale event in couple of weeks so hoping to either find the dress I found Saturday there or something close to it ? I dont want to wait til after xmas as I am getting married in March I think I would have a nervous break down leaving it to the last minute worrying I wouldnt get anything if I left it until then. I was told by one of the shop assistants that it can take 3 months for a dress to ordered and arrive!!

I have also fallen in love with this dress I saw Saturday

    https://birchingtonbrides.co.uk

after trying on about 10! Altho I have an open mind and I've got another dress trying day planned this weekend as well.

    Thanks for your advice tho.x
