Introducing my new puppy! Any name ideas?

Janna, 10 July, 2009 at 19:34 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 23

Sorry for the need to tilt your head....

We went to the breeder to 'choose' our puppy today, but it turns out she chose us! The others laid on the rug whilst came and had a good sniff of me and tried to climb up in to my lap. When I scooped her up, she fell asleep in my arms. So that was that.

She's a miniature labradoodle, 4 weeks at the moment. She is, as yet, un-named, so any suggestions gratefully received!

    She's lovely!

Rosie seems to suit her - it's the only name that comes to my mind when I see her anyway.

    Thanks ladies!

Molly - not because our son is Olly!

Dasiy - not because our next door neightbour's dog's Daisy and we see a lot of her!

Rosie - is on our short list funnily enough

Our shortlist (at the moment) is Rosie, Honey, Amber or Lola

She's adorable you're very lucky and i'm quite jealous! ?

Before I saw your post I was going to suggest Polly but that would be ruled out for the same reason as Molly. I like Rosie too so that gets my vote ?

When is she coming home to live with you?

Great suggestions everyone, thanks very much.

We're picking her up on 12th August - I can not wait. Thankfully we have a 10 day holiday during the waiting time which might make it go a bit quicker.

I don't think you'll like any of the names I mentioned for her on FB then ?

My cats are Molly and Daisy so you can't have those anyway ?

Um. She looks like a Petula to me. I'm crackers, aren't I?

Lola, out of your shortlist. I quite like Loula for a dog, Tabitha and I are into Pocoyo at the moment.

    She is adorable!

I'd call her Honey. I think she's gorgeous, and I may be over to puppy nap her very soon.

Although not sure my cats would like her.

    She's absolutely adorable!

We've got a golden lab called Amber (Ambrosia is actually her full name), your new puppy has very similar colouring to her so Amber gets my vote. I'm also really liking honestbride's suggestion of Primrose!

Other name suggestions: Keevi, Freya, Leyla, Lola, Ella, Nancy, Enya / Anya, Sasha, Sorrell, Cora, Bronte, Lexi, Callie, Edie / Eden, Mallory.

Enjoy your new puppy when you get her, and your holiday!

I won't be much help re names - as a vet I see SO many labrador etcs called Honey and Amber so I don't like them!!!!

I tend to give my dogs granny or aunty names!!!!

My boxer is called MAvis and Springer Spaniel is called Flo.

We had names like Edna, Edith, Beryl, etc

Thanks again - I have a 'dog name' word document so I'm adding all of these. We're going to sit down as a family later to choose. As a family which includes a 5 year old and 2 year old, I've feeling the more complex names won't get much support ?

To whoever asked what size she'll grow to (sorry I can't look back and see who) - she'll get to about 16-18" to shoulder.

Love the idea of a boxer dog called Mavis ? Is that Mavis on your avatar piccie? Mr Dooby would love to get a boxer dog but as we both work it's not going to be happening any time soon.

My dad's dog is Rosie. I think it's a v cute name for a dog.

She's friendly looking, not too posh, not too common - she needs a good solid not too fluffy name. Rosie or Janey or Susie or Poppy or Mandy or Mary.
