introducing myself

jade, 3 November, 2009 at 09:10 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 12

Ok ive come off BT for a minute to look for some motivation and weekly updates. im going to join ww tomorrow, im getting excited - ive been on ww before but lose motivation after a while - i'll tell you a bit about myself and feel free to post about your own weight loss plans and journey so far.

im 28 and have 2 children aged 4 and nearly 3. was size 12 prior to children but have been size 14 ever since and had gained 1 stone but recently have put on another stone - so my aim is to lose 2 stone, dont have a time limit in mind but the sooner the better - what is a realistic amount to lose by xmas?? would love to be back in my size 12 and size 10 would be even better but thats not realistic at the moment for me.

so wish me luck on my weight loss and good luck to the rest of you.

Hi Jade. I've been sucessful on WW in the past but can't seem to get motivated just following it at home. I did well on the wii fit straight after christmas and really need to get going again. As my ticker shows I've still got time to get motivated for my wedding but its so hard!

I can't even blame it on having a baby just coupledom! Too many takeaways! I wouldn't aim for 2 stone straight away, I personaly try to focus on each 1/2 stone at a time (although thats not currently working for me) & aim to lose 2lbs a week.

    Good luck x

Hey hope we can all get motivated before xmas:

i am 29, 1 LO and nearly 2.5 stone overweight, tried SW in the past but always lost motivation, only ever lost 10lbs.

dont know whether to try WW or not, seems too restrictive - come on girls we can do it

I'm still having trouble starting but you're right we can do it together. I personally don't find the ww too restrictive at all, I've just been too lazy to count recently.

I've bought fitness coach for the wii n once you get into it, its quite good. only thing is if you miss a session she grumbles at you (getting grumbled at from a computer makes u feel like a plonker for missing your workout!) you can set how much n how often you want to workout.

also website foodfocus.co.uk is quite good, makes you realise exactly what you're eating.

I bought fitness coach back in the summer and I haven't even opened it yet.

I know I've said this a thousand times but tomo I really am gonna go to the gym (which I joined in September but have only been to my induction) then get the Wii out.

Sorry for piggybacking on your thread but thanks for letting me spill!

    Hi,

I am 31, used to be a size 10 ..... was very very fit at the time, I then had a nasty accident breaking a bone in my back and slipping a couple of disks!!!! fully recovered, this happened Aug 2008. in this time I put on 20 Kilos ......... simply cause I ate what I was used to eating when I was doing loads of exercise, and couldnt exercise and before you know it I have put on the weight. However in this time of my being the biggest that I have ever been about a sixteen/eighteen (im five feet ten) I met a gorgeous bloke and we are getting married. He has never known me as the really slim/ fit and tonned looking girl in the pics and I am keen to get back to this, however I have decided actually I was a little too skinny for my height, and will be losing about 2 stone that way I actully still maintain some womanly curves and shapes .. never had to wear a bra before I was bigger lol. anyhow this Jan I started eating much better and have been back to the gym and now started running again which is what I used to do to keep fit and oh my god its the most effective way of losing weight, it also tones you and very quickly you will gain fitness. I am now running five miles 3 times a week, and I had to start all over again just like a beginner that has never run before. I am nine pounds lighter (about 4 kilos), more toned and in a size 14.

I am off to NYC in april so this was my goal to shift 12 kilos for then, and I have no doubt that I will get there. Iam getting married next August so over all I will be slimmer for my wedding. I aim to shift about 2lb a week.

FYI: i only know this as I used to be very keen on fitness and healthy eating, about 3000 calories burned a week will loose you 2lb week, sounds like a lot but when you break it down, into exercise, and also if your eating sensibly your probably eating a few hundred less calories a day its very achievable.

I see you have two children and time is probably not always on your side, but if you take my advice and increase your exercise then you will most definately be a size 10 in 12 weeks if your sensible and dont want to loose it too quickly. Also exercise will shape your body much differently to how it does if you just loose weight yes you can still get to a size 10/12 by eating less but if you exercise and eat healthy you will find that actually the weight loss does not have to be as much cause muscle that you develop (im not talking big muscles) shape your body and fat is removed from troublesome areas, (dieting alone is mostly water that is lost) your clothes will fit better and your overall shape is far better defined than if your just diet - also your less likely to put it on.

another boring fact if your interested - the muscles that are developed through exercise do genuinely increase your metabolism as it is heavier than fat tissue and you burn more calories simply through out the day - does that make much sense? this is why just dieters who get slim put it back on, they have lost water, and some fat but their muscle mass remains the same, the energy required to move their bodies will remain the same therefore if they have a day of not really watching what they're eating then for sure they gain the weight - where as those who exercise have a higher muscle mass density, therefore genuinely require a little more energy to move about if they dont eat what they want and are strickter then they fuel their muscles effectively and the energy is used as it should be and not as much is stored because its required. they are then able to maintain weight better and lose weight more efficiently. Having a little more muscle mass will also allow your body to access its fuel stores (in the liver) as its required for their movement. and my last final boring fact for the day. Post exercising you will still be buring calories even at rest - the body is in a state of repair and the only way to repair its self is to fule itself using its reserves FAT - and this is a process occuring in the liver where its all switched about to make a usable source of fuel .

Very boring im sure, and hope your not now thinking OMG who is this woman banging on about exercise, not my intetions just thought it might explain a little bit as to why exercise is more beneficial if want to to loose weight, yes its the option that probably less appealing but its much much more beneficial than cutting out food or dieting alone, you will be surprised at how much you can consume of what you think you cant on a diet alone when your exercising

best of luck and hope you reach your targets soon

Thanks ruthybabes, I'd never thought about some of the things you mentioned. a lot of what you said had mirrored myself, I too am 31 & have put weight on (although mine was nothing to do with an accident or change of lifestyle particularly).

I hope you are able to reach your target, you certainly know how to go about it in a healthy way.

    Good luck
