Introducing myself and a qq about Sunday weddings

Jobesaurus, 23 March, 2013 at 12:23 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hello everyone, thought I'd finally introduce myself as I've been lurking forever! So I'm Slummymammy(want to change that name, don't know how to though) I'm 'planning' my wedding which is to take place on 25th August this year. When I say planning I'm just paying for a load of things and hoping it comes together to resemble something like a wedding! Been with OH for 8 years, we have 2 beautiful girls together and live in the North East.

My question is to those who got married or are getting married on a Sunday. A couple of my guests have asked me where they can get their hair done on a Sunday and I haven't a clue really so what did your guests do? If anyone has been a guest at a Sunday wedding did the lack of hairdressers bother you? I'm not 100% yet whether my hair is going to be done by my usual hairdresser as it's a bank holiday weekend so that's another tiny worry for me. If only I'd kept my original Saturday date! Thanks in advance for your help ?

    Hi and welcome to hitched,

I'm not a Sunday bride but have a suggestion. If all your guests are staying in one place then can you make enquires with a mobile hair dresser to go to their accommodation, then pass the hairdressers details on to your guests to make their own arrangements ? or if a local hair salon gets enough pre booked appointments from your guests, they might be willing to open on the sunday specifically for them all so that be worth enquiring about as well.

I can understand the need for you and your BMs, and maybe even your Mum, to need a hairdresser, but guests?! Honestly, as a wedding guest I have never visited a hairdresser on the morning of a wedding, nor felt the need to. Can't they just wash and style their hair as normal? Or if desperate for a cut/colour that weekend, go on the Saturday? Surely the only reason to need to have a hairdresser on the morning is for styling, and only the wedding party really need that. Anyway, guests hair is not your concern, so don't worry!

I've gone to a few weddings and got my hair done on a Sunday.

I go to a few local hairdressers and ask if anyone would be able to come out to my home.

If my guests started asking me about hairdressers etc I think I'd hit them! Smiley smile I understand you, BMs, etc, but your guests? Not your problem.

I should imagine you will be able to find yourself a mobile hair stylist for you and whoever you want to.

But I wouldn't get bogged down in finding hairdressers for your guests or anything, let them do it themselves.

Thank you for the replies and suggestions. I'm going to see if my hairdressers will do extra guests and if not try and find a mobile hairdresser who'd be willing to work that day, there'll be about 10 people so it's probably worth their while in money terms!

Hi, I'm afraid I don't know about your Sunday hairdresser problem but to change your user name click on your current username at the top (where it says "Welcome back, Slummymammy) then look down the list on the left of the page - about two thirds of the way down you'll see "My Profile". Click that and change your user name in the "About Me" section right at the top of that page.

    xx

As a guest I've always sorted my own hair out. I understand asking if they don't know the area well but I wouldn't thret over it if you can't find anywhere for them.

I'm a sunday bride, we are going to my mum's local salon. As there will be 4 of us the owner is happy to have us there for champagne and tittivating!

I think it's quite normal for guests to ask about hairdressers, many people have their har put up for a wedding or special occasion so not completely out of line. As you have already said, 10 guests would definitely be worth the money for a hairdresser. I would advise a different one for your guests though, I'm sure yours will be quite busy already! It would definitely be worth ringing around and finding out- they may do a good rate for that many heads.

    Welcome to hitched!

I got married on a Sunday & simply asked the local salon if they'd open on the day. The owner & an assistant came in for 4 of us.

My brother also got married on a Sunday in a totally different area to where I live. I'd normally just do my own hair for a wedding, but as mum was MOG, we rang a few local salons to see if they could open. I never thought to ask the bride about local salons though! If guests dont have the internet, can they not use a phone directory to ring a few themselves???

I too would recommend using a seperate salon from the guests & book yourself in before finding somewhere for guests. If you do find another (seperate) salon for your guests, I'd give them the number & let them book it & sort themselves out.

Hi, I'm a Sunday Bride and having a mobile hairdresser come to the house. All the ones I contacted about wedding hair (including salons) didn't have a problem with Sundays at all. I know my FMIL is going to the hairdressers to have hers done and they are going to open up just for her. I think a few places will be open but depends on what the salon is like. Hope it helps. xxx
