Invitation Advice Please!

DestinationWeddingBride2016, 13 June, 2015 at 15:13 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some advice on the wording for our invitations please! We want to include both mine and OH's parents on them as they are all helping towards the cost of the wedding. However, I can't seem to find any examples of how to word our situation! My parents are married but my OH's mum is and has always been a single mother to him but every example we see is for when there are two lots of married parents hosting (or divorced parents hosting along with step-parents etc). We also don't particularly like the idea of having it say "their children" either which makes it that bit harder I think!

Can anyone please help with any examples of how we could word it to include all three of our parents?

TIA for any suggestions! xxx

My friend had hers worded as 'together with their parents' rather than actually naming them or did you want to name them?

We did want to name them if possible but we might well end up with 'together with their parents' as the sensible option! We're having quite a non-traditional wedding but this is the one tradition we would like to keep if we can x

Could you have 'together with their families, grooms name and brides name invite...'?

Another option (if surnames are still the same!) would be 'the Smith and Smythe families'

Which makes it slightly more personal but includes everyone!

You could go with any of these options:

Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Lewis Manning and
    Mrs. Riordan Cullen
request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of their children

    OR

Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Lewis Manning
    together with
    Mrs. Riordan Cullen
request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of their children

    OR

Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Lewis Manning
request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of their daughter
    Amelia Rose
    to
    Liam Quinlan
    son of Mrs. Riordan Cullen

Thanks so much misslynx we've decided on "The X and Y families request the pleasure of your company..." - we hadn't heard of this before but it's great!

Thanks to everyone else for all of your suggestions too!
