Invitation checklist!

MrsMarshall2B260517, 14 November, 2016 at 12:56 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of doing my invitations, but when I'm putting it together I feel like I'm missing something!

Its a pocket fold style invite, with the main part obviously being the date time of the wedding etc, with the inserts all I have are the RSVPs and hotel information for those who don't live locally, I'm considering putting a menu in, but I'm not sure if that's the norm? is there anything people but in theirs that I haven't?

Any advice is much appreciated!

xx

Mine are going to consist of the main invite, a separate info sheet, an RSVP card & an envelope to return the RSVP card. I'd only put menu details in there if you're offering everyone a choice of food, otherwise I'd say keep it as a nice surprise!

That's great thank you! can I ask what type of info you'll be putting on the info sheet?

We've got pocketfolds too Smiley smile

    We've included:

    - Invitation (duh lol)

    - Menu (day guests only)

    - RSVP card & envelope

    - Information card (Directions and hotel info)

    - Decorative features. For us, this is a square of silver card for the back, with a slightly smaller square of white card that has our names and wedding date on. The white card has a silver ribbon wrapped around it and a heart ribbon slider. This is attached to the silver card and stuck onto the back. There's a matching silver bow stuck onto the flap Smiley smile

    - Gift List information

Ours has the main invite with date, time and venue. Then a double sided card which tells you how to RSVP on one part (online) and on the other side has directions to the venue as I think mobile signal could be a bit dodgy if my guests were relying on mobiles. We didn't need pocket folds but they're my favourite style.

We have a wedding website so haven't put menus on there because you pick choices online. I think if you don't have a choice for people you should avoid the menu card and surprise people. It will avoid people contacting you going "I don't like X, can I have Y instead".

Yes of course! In a nutshell...it says to bring warm clothes just in case of bad weather (as it's in a marquee), about being able to leave cars overnight, how we don't have room for children, that hotel & taxi info can be found on our Audley website, & our gift list details (again, on the Audley website).

    I think that's it!

We are in the process of putting ours together as well at the moment - we are doing stacked rather than pocket fold, and so far have planned: Invitation, Gift and venue information, RSVP with envelope. We are having a set menu, and are just putting any dietary requirements on the RSVP as venue only do the odd exceptions rather than multiple choices. We have planned on putting on the information card: where the bridal party are staying in case people want to stay there too, directions to the venue, that cars can be left overnight and the taxi number to prebook taxis. I'm paranoid we're going to forget something before they go to print!

Ours are pocketfold... we have the 'main invite' with date, time and location on, and RSVP card with insert to indicate menu choices, the menu (our lucky guests get a choice!), an addressed and stamped envelope for the RSVP and an 'info' sheet.

I suspect I've put too much info on the sheet, but it covers when we need RSVP's, accommodation choices, some safety advice (bouncy castle and water features in the gardens !!) a bit about gifts, directions and our contact details as well as a request for people NOT to take photos during the ceremony but to feel free thereafter and details of our wed pics account... good job our friends and family know I'm not good at keeping things short!!!

Other than the normal info, I also put details for local hotels and taxis, (include any hotel discounts that are on offer), where the parking was for the venue (it was in a side street and not obvious), you could include a GPS reading if you know it.

Also that the chapel didnt allow ANY confetti, rice, petals at all & that bubbles would be provided instead.

We're having a pocketfold style too and in ours is:

    - Main invite

    - two large inserts; one with written directions to both the church and the reception venue (most of our guests are coming a long way and both are a nightmare to get to if you don't know the area), and the other is double sided with a map to both places including where to park

    - one medium double sided insert with accommodation and gifts on one side, and on the other just other information like taxi's, that the bar at the reception is cash only etc etc

    - R.S.V.P which is like a little postcard so has been printed ready with our address on one side

I'm going to put menu's on the table at the reception because I want it to be a surprise (and also to avoid moaning lol). I'm a bit worried we have information overload on ours but I want to cover all the bases ? xx

Ours just had the basics! date, time, place. No menus, but we stated what the food will be (afternoon tea and fish and chips, simple enough) I listed 3 or 4 hotels and a couple of taxi companies.

dont do what I did and order rsvp's with envelopes and then forget to put the return envelopes in...
