Invitation DIY help

Dizzybelle, 6 November, 2012 at 12:24 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi,

After printing my invitations absolutely ages ago I think that I had better now start trying to put them together as a few quiet weekends coming up. We're getting married on the bank holiday weekend in May so would like them to go out after Christmas.

Does anyone know where I can buy a half decent guillotine. I had a look on argos but they all seem to have bad reviews and I can't be doing with wonky invites lol.

Thanks

I got mine from WH Smiths for around £20 and it was a good one, Or try Hobbycraft as I'm sure they will have a selection.

A printing company would probably cut them professionally for you for less than the price a guillotine will cost you. Some may say no to doing that, but lots will do it, especially local companies.

I used a scapel, craft board and steel ruler. I found this much easier, and was a super straight finish. Total cost about £12 in Staples.

Think I've been through every Hobbycraft one - stay well clear, they're awful!

I second the printers. I've paid £30 for crappy guillos in the past. whereas a Printers could charge you around £15 and trust me, way less the hassle x

To find a good guillotine you will need to pay a decent amount of money as the cheaper end will NEVER give a straight cut or if you measure and cut it will never be accurate enough.

Even the expensive one I have isn't perfect and I have had to make alterations to it to perform to better standards but I still revert to a ruller and knife for the best cut!
