Invitation Etiquette

lydeep, 18 February, 2013 at 13:53 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi Fellow B2B

Could you give me some advise please?

I am about to send my invitations out and for the guest names on the invitation itself I was just going to write the first names, but I keep hearing mixed stories that you should include their surnames to on the actual invitation?

Which option have you brides to be done?

Who would have thought the wording of the invitations would take up so much time!!! Nightmare!

:-)

Unless it's a very formal invite, using only the guests' first names should be fine!

I did this. And used "Aunty", "Uncle" etc where appropriate (depending on what I usually call the person). My parents' invitation was made out to "Mum and Dad"!

Bizarrely, considering how informal the rest of our wedding will be, we used first and surnames, unless there were lots of people to include, ie a couple of families of five didn't get surnames just because they didn't fit on the page! I would say use whichever you're happiest with, unless the rest of the invitation is super formal. No one will really notice.

I just used their first names, and even on the envelopes to some couples I just wrote their names although married couples I did Mr & Mrs xxxxx
