Invitation Help

Rosco298, 11 September, 2013 at 15:27 Posted on Planning 0 13

I am really struggling to find invitations we both like. We must have 30 samples at home but nothing jumps out as being one we want to use. Where did you all get yours from?

We want a pocket-fold or wallet style as we have a few pieces of paper we need to fit in. Also ideally I'd like to be able to get day and evening invitations, order of service, name cards and thank you cards which all match. If I can get menu's too that would be perfect.

What kind of style/theme is the rest of your wedding? It might help people offer you suggestions.

If you can't find any you like to buy would you not consider DIYing it? I know PDA card and craft sell blank pocket fold and wallet style invites ;-)

Was going to say the exact same - if you give us an idea of what samples you've already got somebody may know a supplier. There are also a few great HIBs on here who I'm sure could help.

Second vote also for PDA if you want to DIY we can help you in the right direction!

Thanks, I would DIY if I had to but paper crafts are not really my friend I think it'll look like a 5yo did it. We don't really have a theme but here are some details. We are getting married in the local church then the reception is in an old Barn. The girls are wearing navy blue, boys in grey suits with navy ties. I don't have flowers etc. yet. I have collected several hundred peacock feathers from our farm peacocks to use as decoration again I have no idea what I'll do with them but I like the colours and they were free.

I don't like ribbons as you have to tie them and they'll look messy. I also don't like butterflies, birdcages, birds, bunting, diamamtes etc. Oh and thats not to offend anyone who does they're just not very me. My Mum hates black for invitations so thats out too.

What about something quite plain and simple like these?

They are from Etsy but it is an English seller, based in Sheffield ;-)

Thanks I like those. Something like that would be ideal. I think I'm quite a plain person I don't like things which are over fussy.

Another vote for PDA card and craft. I ordered my pocketfolds from there and literally all you need to do is fold along the lines and glue / tape. I'll be using glue dots probably or double sided tape. Very easy to do and they look great.

Do you know anyone who could design something you like? I bought the pocketfold wallets from PDA, and my friend has designed all of our stationary which we are printing out ourselves. That way, we get exactly what we want, everything will match, it doesnt cost too much and there isnt too much DIY involved!

    (BTW, loving the peacock feathers!)

We got ours from the Card Gallery and although they didn't have exactly what we wanted on their website, they said they would do a bespoke design for us. We've had 20 Save the Date magnets, 20 day invites & 10 evening invites and it cost us about £95 and they are really good quality. www.thecardgallery.co.uk

I am using Sara at http://montymanatee-weddings.com/ who is designing mine for me. She charges a £30 registration fee then £1 per card, and she does Save The Dates and thank you cards too. I simply emailed her details of what we are having, an example of one I liked and she came back to me with a design that incorporates everything!

    Hi Rosco

Here is a list of some of the HIBs on here. Have a look through these sites and see if anything jumps out at you. Also, do bear in mind that most of us will change and adapt invitations to suit you and will also work with you to create something that fits your requirements.

My website is www.millieandme.net but there is a lot more to see on Facebook as 'Millie and Me'

    www.bunnydelicious.co.uk

    www.weddingparaphernalia.co.uk

    www.xoxo-wedding.co.uk

    www.lucyledger.co.uk

    www.twenty-seven.co.uk

Also have a look on www.notonthehighstreet.co.uk and www.etsy.com

If you like peacock feathers, I have done some invitations using this peacock print, these could easily be made into a more simple design without ribbons and bling etc!

    Hope that helps. Nicky
