Invitation printing question for fellow crafty hitchers!

Mrs C, 5 March, 2010 at 20:20 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hello fellow crafty girls who are printing your own invites...

I am looking to print mine, have found the card that I want to use but still need to buy said printer!!!

None of the printers that I have looked at so far online detail what max thickness card they will take so I need to do a bit of a survey of which printers you guys have to help me decide what I need to get! Inkjet/Laser/HP/Canon/Epson... etc.

The card that I am looking at getting is the "cryogen" range from pda card and craft. It is 120gsm and has a slight sparkle to it but isn't pearlescent.

Can you tell me which printer you have and what thicknesss card you have printed on so that I can get buying and start making!!!

Thanks! x

I would think any good quality printer would be good. if you go into PC world or some other computer shop they may be able to tell you what printer would be most suitable. My friend did hers on a lexmark printer. not sure what model tho. it does use up an awful lot of ink tho and the lexmark ink is very expensive,

Im hand writing my insert with calligraphy on layout paper and am going to scan it into the computer to print out on insert paper so i think my dad's printer at home will be fine for me! lol. I will buy the good quality ink tho and print it out in the best quality setting.

hope thats a help for you.

Its not so much the printing on thats the issue its the feeding can be dodgy. I have a epson sx200 and it is tempermental to feeding - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. Most times I have to gently push the top when it feeds so it takes it in ok, fine if you are only doing a few, not so great by time you get to the 100th print!

As a general rule of thumb printers which feed down and out without rolling the paper/card round a roller take thicker card.

No problem - hope it helped?

I was looking online and there are some Hp and Canons that take up to 300gsm card and they were around the £60 mark

I have an epson sx200 and use 250gsm textured card and touch wood the majority of the time it feeds ok but occasionaly needs a little push. I think my printer was around £35-£40.

Hey Mrs C - sorry never noticed this post earlier.

I printed mine and my card was 285gsm. I've got an HP 4 in one kinda printer. There were a few times that the card got stuck but if I was careful and kinda helped it on its way it was ok. In fact I was printing my A5 table name cards last night and they all went through with no problems at all.
