Invitation query - time

Vickydrip, 14 January, 2012 at 21:59 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi All

I am just finalising our wedding invitations and wanted to know how long before the ceromony starts would you ask everyone to arrive? We are getting married at 2:00pm.

Would you put on the invite just the time of the ceremony, or would you tell them to arrive from 1:30pm?

I know it is a little detail, but I want everything to be perfect, what have other hitchers done?

Thanks

Vicky x

Loads of people get confused about this, but not sure why.

I put the ceremony time, as people will generally arrive well before the start

    Hey,

We put 10.30 for an 11am ceremony

We had a discussion about it, OH thought ti was too controlling, but we went to a wedding that had a 12pm time in theinvite, but ceremony wasn't till 1 - everyone stood around wondering what was happening, and what the hold up was. But if you tell them just the ceremony time theres a risk that people might be late, and I want everyone there and inside before I arrive, as I'll be there a bit early to speak with the registrar etc. I always figure that if people know whats what they feel more comfortable.

I put the time our ceremony starts. The reason being that I worried if I put a time say half an hour earlier, peple know to come early and may come half hour before that, so could be sat there for an hour before the ceremony starts! I would hope most people know to come a little early ready, because I don't do late! I will be walking down the aisle at 12.30, whether guests are missing or not hehehe.

I'd be miffed if the invite said 12:30 and the ceremony didn't start until 13:00, as I'd be waiting around for ages for no reason.

I have put a little note in my info saying that guests should be inside by 12:34 to allow for the arrival of the Bridal party

I put the actual ceremony time on the invite. In the additional information I put that the ceremony is at 12noon, and to please ensure they arrive by 11.45am.

    This.

If you put half an hour earlier in, people will probably end up there an hour before it starts!

Think putting a note in the additional information about the start time is a good idea too, I will be doing this too.

We asked our guests to turn up at 3:30pm but the mini 'order of the day' thing we put in the invitations indicated that the ceremony starts at 4. I think people tend to presume where there's only one time on the invitation that's the time the ceremony starts and turn up earlier.

Hopefully all your guests will be so excited to see you get married that they'll be there in plenty of time Smiley smile
