Invitations

Meggiemoo1981, 5 October, 2011 at 21:50 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi,

Are you invitations written from you and your OH or are the written as "Mrs Davies invites you to the wedding of her daughter blah blah blah"?? My sister has just been asking and I think we're doing it just from OH and I.

We did ours from OH and I. Although you can do it from both sets of parents and yourselves too if you wanted to.

I think traditionally it's whoevers paying for the wedding, but not sure, e.g. if your Mum and Dad are paying you would put them but if you and your other half are paying for it you'd put yourselfs. I may be wrong though.

We have done ours from our parents - even though they are not paying for the wedding we wanted to include them (also like tradition ?)

It is traditionally from whoever is paying. My mum & dad both gave us a substantial contribution to our wedding and we're paying the rest ourselves. We've put "Mr C and Mrs C ... " rather than Mr & Mrs as they're divorced.

I've seen some people put "Sarah and John, together with their parents, would like to invite you ..." and variations thereof.

Both parents are contributing, both said invites should be from us but we did my parents with OHs parents invite you...

Traditionally it would be "Mr & Mrs Bride'ssurname request the pleasure of your company at the wedding of their daughter Bride'sfirstnameonly to Groom'sfullname"

Nowadays all sorts of things are acceptable. We had "Together with their parents, Helen F and OH'sfullname request the pleasure of your company at their wedding..." Though OH's parents then didn't contribute, hmmm...

We have worded mine from my parents as they are contributing about half of our budget, we are paying the rest. I didn't think it was right to put OH's parents on there.
