Invitations

Pompey, 28 December, 2011 at 11:01 Posted on Planning 0 21

I literally have no effing clue. When do we send them out, what design do we want. All we have at the moment are white pearlised cards and envelopes. ARRGHHH.

We get married on 16th June and we have just spent yesterday afternoon writing out our invites and are going to give them out within the next week and have asked for them back in March. This may seem a little early, but it is mostly family that are invited for the day time, all those that are invited know the date etc and we have to let the venue/do the table plan around end of March.

I think I have some idea of the design of all of the bumpf to go inside (meal, map, service info) and now that I have my printer I can get that done. Just not a clue about anything else!

What is your theme/colour for the wedding? We could maybe give ideas with a little more info. Have you tried googling wedding stationary to see if any particular styles jump out at you?

Colour scheme is Royal Blue with a touch of Silver and white. I will be having button bouquets and therefore buttons have sort of become the theme. OH would like something quite simple, although he did think we should incorporate some of that glitter paper somehow... and that is it. Google was of no help. After about and hour I got fed up, hence my post. Any help would be appreciated ladies and gents. ☹️

How about something like this? But with variety of navy buttons.

Or having card with row of navy buttons down one side?

I made a quick mood board of ideas and I really like the ribbon roses as an idea to put on them (they are really simple to make).

I love the simplicity of this but I am wary that my sister, OH's aunt and myself will be making them...

If you cut out a heart template (could print one from net etc to make sure its perfect shape) your family could then use it to placeon the front and glue buttons around its edge, ensuring each has a lovely heart, but all with random buttons, so no-one has the same invite. Then either write in the middle or buy silver/gold wording stickers.

We sent ours out 5 months before, mainly because we're having a Friday wedding. I was going to make our own invites but soon gave up on that idea! Vistaprint was my friend! Love the idea of the button cards though.

We are making ours as well (or rather MIL2B is) and we had issues picking the type of invite we wanted. We knew we wanted something very simple as we would be making them ourselves and none of us are extremely arty.

We are getting married on 28 July, but we are sending our invites out in February as it is when schools break up and lots of people are going on holiday. We will ask for them back at the beginning of May.

We took this photo of our venue and then used Vistaprint to print off invitations:
