Invitations are So expensive??!

FutureMrsPitt, 13 November, 2012 at 16:45 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi Everyone.

I've been looking at invitations and oh my are they expensive!! I want them to be nice but the one's I like are like £3-£4 each!!

How much have you spent on invitations and do you know any nice elegant affordable sites? I want a bit of sparkle on them I think as that's what my cake is going to be too!

I thought the exact same thing!! I want something pretty and saw some lovely and beautiful ones. I finally found someone who can do ours for £1 each. Flawless wedding stationary if you wanted to take a look http://www.flawlessweddingstationery.com/.

I reasoned with myself that yes they are lovely but at the end of the day they will end up in the bin and thats a shame for £4's worth of invitation! We would rather spend that on the actual day. (I might sounds tight sorry!)

We've made our own for roughly 50p each. We got everything we needed from hobby craft. I'd flash but they're not finished yet.

    Hiya

They really don't have to cost the earth. It depends on what you want ?

My prices start from as little as 75p. Some of mine do go up to the £4/5.00 mark but they are for pocketfolds fith lot's of inserts, envelopes and diamantes for that.

I offer a free no obligation design service and would work to your budget rather than the other way around if it was something you were interested in trying?

You can see some of my work at www.inspiremedesigns.co.uk or on www.facebook.com/inspiremedesigns you can also email me directly at *******@****************.**.** for a chat.

Ours were from ebay. Handmade and beautiful but no sparkle, not keen on too much bling. Cost £1.90 each so they weren't too bad. We opted for chequebook style ones as the are cheaper than pocketfolds. I'd suggest shopping around, there are some good prices and bargains out there if you look.

They really don't have to cost a lot. You just need to look hard to find things. I ink ours were about two pounds each and our evening invites were free from vista print.

If you are good at crafts then you could make your own, some people have made fabulous ones but depends how good you are at that sort of thing? Mine would have looked like a child had done them.

We are going to make our own and should work out at about .50 an invite

Vistaprint would have been our back up as others have suggested and these are certainly cheap!

We're planning to print ours at home. Someone recommended this website on here for free printables which is really good:

Just play with colours and designs and you can print yourself.

    This! With bells on!

Then again, I prefer plain jane style, and used a free template from wedding chicks (google it). My invitations, reply cards, and orders of the day have each cost me approximately 30p each!

You can get tons of things to further customise them from places like hobby craft. I'm not bothering, but if you want them sparkly, that's your best bet!

Ours were beautiful, print it yourself with a ribbon at the top and a vellum overlay and were positively commented upon by many guests.

They cost £7.99 for 50 invitations and 50 evening "postcard" invitations in a lucky strike in T K Maxx.

Hi, i totally agree, they are very expensive.... we are planning on making our own, have seen everything we need on ebay. im also looking forward to me and other half doing them together, i thinks its a nice personalised touch.

for the day invites we are going to do a video message for people - can film and edit ourselves and then put them on CD's to send out... a cheap alternative Smiley smile

We've used this for save the dates and had them printed with Vistaprint - worked out as about £22 for 50 magnets and was pretty straightforward. Will do the same for the invitations, menus etc.
