Invitations - part made professionally and part self made - is this possible???

tams82, 27 April, 2013 at 17:30 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hello!

I really love this invitation:

However to get it made think it would be really expensive!! So was thinking that i could order a square invitation with all the printing done and then add my own sparkly ribbon around the edge to glitz it up? Then on the back make my own 'pocket' to stick the rsvp card and envelope?

Anyone who is crafty/made/makes invitations think that is a feasible thing to do? I need about 125 invitations so cant afford to spend a lot on them and thought this might save me some money!

Thanks in advance for any tips/help etc!!! xxxxx

Could you not print out the squares yourself too? That would probably work out cheaper.

It's very do-able. You could even do a glitter or stick on 'jewels' around the edge. Or you might be able to buy a card that's sparkly/patterned and stick your invite on to it.

I've seen that pebbley type of backing card that this invite is on before...bet you someone on here knows where to get that!

Your local KallKwick will set that text for you in 5 minutes flat and will have a range of card stock you will be able to choose from, in this picture it could be that the text is that lovely raised style where you feel it when you run your finger over it - that is called thermography.

If I were you, I'd try and track down some similar backing card so you know the price, then take this picture down to Kall Kwick and show them what you want to do and get them to cost you some options. They are really helpful in there and will be able to tell you the best size that the square should be so you can maximise the number printed onto a large piece of printers card to keep the costs down even more but still have a glamourous finish.

This is definitely do able but you need to set up a production line on it, think about how you can make sure they are all exact, and think about tools you might need like a guillotine (£20 from rymans) and a glue gun and glue etc.

I have just been looking and that card by the loos of it is made in India and sold in Australia and I can only find Australian sites selling and it isnt cheap either. You will have te excuse this pic because the light isnt good and I just took this is on my phone but I can do something along similar lines. A silver embossed card that shines really nicely in the light, all printed etc with envelopes and they are only 60p each

Awwwww I've seen that backing card on invitations before and have looked for it many times as it is gorgeous but they don't seem to sell it in this country at all which is a shame. There is no way to make something similar without spending hours hand embellishing it either. Embossed card won't work if you want people to see the back of it either.

I could possibly do something with laser cutting for you to have that wow factor if you wanted to explore this option. I can supply them as kits to make it cheaper also. Please do email me for more information *******@****************.**.**
