Invite advice needed!

Nic_Nic, 17 August, 2012 at 22:19 Posted on Planning 0 8

Ladies,

Our invitations are almost ready for printing but just some details to finalise. We don't have a gift list we will ask those that want to give a gift for a donation towards our honeymoon, I have looked at the poems some I like and some I really don't as they sound to demanding and like its expected. My fiancé had planne the honeymoon as a surprise for me so we have opted to set up an account purely for money to be paid in so i keep track of who we need to thank etc but without finding out too much info! Any suggestions for wording etc Would be greatly appreciated!

Money poems are like a Hitched swear word.

Just write something about not needing gifts but would appreciate something towards the honeymoon if people wanted to give, you don't need to hide behind a poem.

    Please don't use a poem.

Something like "We haven't registered for a gift list as we have everything we need for our home. What we really want is you at our wedding, enjoying yourself but if you would like to get us a gift then money towards our honeymoon would be greatly appreciated" will suffice.

I don't know if you were thinking about it but don't put your bank details in the invitation.

We looked at poems and then just took a few nice words out of them to create a little sentence that we liked.

We kept it very simple stating "should you wish to give us a girl, a contribution to our honeymoon would be appreciated". We didn't have much space so couldn't make it wordier.

We're in the same situation, and didn't put anything about gifts / money on the invitations, but put this on our website: (feel free to pinch)

"You being there with us to share our special day is the best gift we could receive. If however anyone still wishes to give us a gift, a monetary contribution towards our honeymoon would be most gratefully received."

Never thought of asking for children...

ETA On a more helpful note, ours will probably say something like

As we have been living together for a while and have everything we need for our home, we have decided not to register for a gift list. All we ask from you is to joi us on our day and help us have a much fun as possible celebrating. If, however, you would like to give us a gift, a donation to our (honeymoon) fund would be greatly appreciated.'

    Hello

I put the following in my invites:

We haven’t got a wedding list,
    The reasons we’ll explain
It’s to save you all the hassle
    As shopping is a pain.

We thought we’d ask you all
    For something else instead
    A small contribution towards
    A holiday in the med.

So if you’d like to contribute
    Towards our honeymoon
We offer you our heartfelt “Thanks!”
With love, the Bride & Groom.
