Invite nightmare!

rachb3, 29 April, 2011 at 19:37 Posted on Planning 0 8

(Moan alert!)

OH's friend is a printer and was going to do our invites and thank you cards which was great as we're on a tight budget so had only allocated a little towards printing. But he has just brought some samples round and they are.......erh......not quite what we had in mind let's just say. I don't feel like we can go elsewhere to get the invites done now, one because we've already asked him to do them and two because we really can't afford it, but we really don't like what he's brought! Aaaahhh!!

(Rant over.)

    Oh nooooo. ☹️

could you give him an example of what you would like? I'm sure he wouldn't mind, then you could work together to create them.

    Hey Hunny,

First off don't fret, I went through the same thing a few weeks back but everything is ok now. First off be honest with your friend tell them that the invites are not what you expected and without risking sounding rude that you really don't like them, I designed my own and am having them printed in a few months time maybe that could be a way around it, maybe show him/her exactly what you want and ask whether they can do something similar xxxxx

Thanks. Playbunnyjinx your invites look lovely, what size are they?

My OH just asked his friend if he had "anything posher!" (Although I agreed I didn't know where to look!) He said no but offered to print the inserts if we wanted them done. I don't even like the quality of the card so may just sort something else out, maybe make my own. Although had hoped to get them out in the next couple of weeks as haven't sent "save the dates."

Sorry for sounding moany, I was just getting excited about choosing them, planning what they were going to say etc! But I am sure it will be fun to make some.

I don't think your moaning at all, in fact if they are rubbish quality then it wouldn't matter how you tell him that you don't like them IMHO. The size of mine are in pixels at the moment of 450 x 1000 but should print as 4.5in x 9in approx.

For around £20 you can buy a Lexmark Printer

For approx £4 if you know where to look you can get replacement inks (try 3000rpm)

For £15 you can buy enough good quality high gsm paper to print off at least 100 invites

All you need is a bit of imagination FREE

Any little bows/hearts/stickies approx £2.50 for 10 local hobbycraft

Also hobby craft sell envelopes in various colours and sizes ?

Hope all this is more helpful and you can get somewhere with it.....

I brought some invites off of ebay, they are personalised and cost £4 for 10, and i only needed 30. Was an awesome buy, i love ebay though haha.

For card/envelopes anything you need stationery wise try pdacard and craft. They're very reasonable and brilliant quality.
