Invite Question

Rod, 17 January, 2011 at 13:24 Posted on Planning 0 10

Hey all, jsut wanted a bit of advice.

Our wedding starts at 3.30pm. We have the ceremony venue from 3pm-5pm.

Should i write on the invite 3.30pm - or should i write 3pm for 3.30pm start? I dont want to arrive at 3.20pm (for chat with registrar) and people still be arriving cos they think theyre early for a 3.30pm wedding.

The venue said that our guests should arrive at 3pm so theyre all in for when i get there so the wedding can start on time and we cna make the most of the short time we have in the house.

Do you understand what i mean? I am filling in my form for the stationers now and wondered what you thought / have done?

TIA xxx

Yea i think i will do that.

They told OH to be there before 3 anyway so i doubt they will stop people coming in before 3? If they do it has steps all downt the front, they can mingle on there!

If your venue has said that people should arrive at 3pm, then that's what you should put on the invitations I think.

Hee i know this sounds silly but i have a little niggle that if i put 3pm, people will think the wedding starts at 3pm..and then when i rock up (on time) at 3.30pm, they'll think im half hour late hahaha x

    silly i know....lol

Well being late IS the bride's prerogative!

I am putting the date of the actual ceremony on the main invite, so 12.30pm.

Then I am adding a line in the extra information that says "please arrive and be seated in the church by 12.15pm"

If I received an invitation that said "3pm", I would arrive at 2.30pm because I hate to be late... then I would have to wait for an hour!!!

If you are not having extra information in your invitations I would put "arrival at 3.00pm for 3.30pm ceremony" or something like that.

Mine say 'arrivals from 1.30pm for a 2pm ceremony'. I think that's pretty clear.

I've put that our ceremony commences at 2:45pm as I am due to arrive at 3pm.

I would put 3.30pm on the invitation - that's the time of the wedding. I would also put in the information sheet (if you're having one) that guests should arrive from 3.00pm.

Most people are early for a wedding. And if you put 3.00pm on the invitation you could get people turning up at 2.30pm and be stood outside!

We have 2 pm on our invitations and then on the info sheet explained that the main hotel bar would be open from 1 pm.
