Invite wording?

*Mini*, 15 January, 2011 at 16:11 Posted on Planning 0 4

Im sure this has been done to death but...

My ceremoney is booked to start at 2pm so what tiem shall I ask guests to arrive in the invites? My worry would be that if I put 2pm then people may be late but if I put 1.30 etc and I dont turn up untill 2pm people may get bored of waiting!

WWYD?

Put to arrive at 1.30, to be seated by 1.45.

I'm sure guests would know to turn up before the service begins at the stated time.

You would be surprised! It also depends on the venue... if there is loads of easy parking available, and not much traffic usually, then fine. If you know there is not much parking and that traffic on that day could be bad, but your guests don't know that... then people could have every intention of turning up before the service begins, but not make it on time.

We are bussing everyone to our ceremony venue. They have been told that the bus leaves at 11am (ceremony is roughly 30-40mins away and starts at 12pm) and what I will do is send one bus at 11am and the other at 11:10am to catch the stragglers, because I know there isn't that much space for them to park and I know certain of my relatives will contrive to be late as per usual. If they miss the second bus - tough. They will miss the ceremony. Harsh maybe, but as it's a register office we cannot run late as other people are booked in for their ceremonies after us.
