Invite wording - best solution?

mrsmould-to-be, 14 January, 2010 at 12:16 Posted on Planning 0 2

Ok - not too sure how i solve this one seeing as my parents are divorced and after much research on the interweb, i still havent found a appropriate solution!!!

my invites arrived today and are pre printed with wording that i just add too (if that akes sense)

Italic is whats in the card already -

.......................................................................

request the pleasure of your company to celebrate the marriage of

............................and.....................

....etc etc etc

how do people suggest i put my parents names? both have different surnames now ?

mum is now a Wilson, and my Dad is obviously a smith like me... anyone got a suggestion as to what i can put?

i didnt know if something like

'Ms Wilson and Mr Smith' is acceptable or what i should do? do i stick to formal or not? although some relatives know my mum as a Smith like me, its not at all appropriate to list her as Ms or Mrs Smith in the invite as my dads new wife will be at the wedding lol!!!

xxxx

My mum & dad are divorced n dad has remarried but mum hasn't. I've got Mr Chris Smith & Mrs Shirley Smith invite .....

If you look on stationery at the top it gives example wording n think there's a few different options on there.

    I would put:

Mr (your dad's 1st name) Smith & Ms (your mum's 1st name) Wilson

    HTH

Yeah - I'd go for Mr Harry Smith and Mrs Emma Wilson request the pleasure of xx at the marriage of their daughter xx to xx

That way you've clarified their relationship to you!
