I think that is too soon. It depends when your venue needs its final numbers by. I would send them out end of May/June time.

The recomend sending invites between 8-10 weeks before the big day, and definately no later than 6 weeks before.

But if your getting married when its holiday season, or a weekday then you should send them 10-12 weeks before.

Yeah i think its too soon, i am going to send some of my invites out 6 months before but that is to the people that we dont see very often and have to travel so that if they are not coming we can invite people off our reserve list the same time as everybody else and they wont feel like they are a last resort x x

    hope i helped a little

    xx

Definitely too soon if your wedding is in the uk. but ok for you to put a 'save the date' note/card in the christmas cards of those you are inviting to the wedding. i would probably be sending cards around end june/beg july time for day guests, few weeks later for evening guests.

if your wedding was abroad i would say it wasn't too soon, but would also presume you had already told people about where and when everything was.

Wedding etiquette says send them out three months prior with an RSVP of six weeks - however you could send them four months - but I wouldn't send them out any earlier as people will forget to respond.

Hello wedding twin. I was thinking 2nd week in Jan. Gives plenty of time for people to reply. Venue needs numbers by middle of march.I've made ours and the day ones are all fininshed.

Will prob wait til Feb for the night invites.

I got married in July, in prime holiday season and sent mine out at end of April. There was no issue with people coming at all. i think 3 months is the furthest before you need to send them

ETA: anything further in front looks like you are a little over eager?

Hi, I am getting married August 09 and I have included save the dates in our Christmas cards. I will send invites out around Easter with a RSVP date of about the end of May.

Although I think most people we are inviting already know when it is, that they are invited and that they can attend so I think it's just a formality now!! ?

i assume that was in response to my post? of course you will be excited about your own wedding, but i personally think anything more than 3 months before is too soon.

Be as eager as you like about your own day, no one can knock you for that but I wouldn't expect my guests to be anywhere near as excited. A wedding invitation sent 9 months in advance is going to either get lost or forgotten about by most people.

I'm getting married in August. Not really sure when we'll send the invitations out yet but I'm thinking around April time which is still a bit early but there are quite a few people who need to book flights. I've just today sent Save the Date cards for a bit of advance warning but there's no details on there, just literally the date.

    Im sept 09 too !!!!

im making all my invites etc and not even started yet so no chance of mine going out early LOL !! I did send STD cards a month or so ago to satisfy some of my excitement !! he he he

I expect that the main invited will be ready to go out about May time - fingers crossed !!!

I like getting invites early just so im sure im invited to either the whole thing or just even - then I can make plans !! but i do think Jan is slightly too early - sorry Smiley smile

Reading this thread has made my head explode, they're called invitations people, not invites, invitations

Please, it's Christmas, for the sake of my sanity, can we please call them invitations

And to answer the OP, anything more than 3/4 months in advance is too early, it's one thing to be excited about posting them, it's another thing to be pissed off when you don't get all your replies because people have lost/forgotten about them.

I was wondering when you were going to pop up with this ?

My INVITATIONS went out some time in May I think with a return date of 30th June for 16th August wedding. My evening invitations well, ahem, they went out, erm, a couple of weeks before... (H invited most of his friends by phone or text the week before the wedding ?? the etiquette fairy is going to poo in my Christmas stocking isn't it?!)
