Irrationally furious! My first bridezilla moment?

*CrazyCatLady*, 3 September, 2014 at 22:48 Posted on Planning 0 11

I bought my veil and tiara from a bridal shop over 2 months ago now. It was a different place to where I got my dress from, but they had really lovely accessories.

I paid in full for the veil (a cathedral length scatter crystal veil) and tiara (twilight style TLT4562) which combined came to about £200.

The shop told me that they'd be in within 2-3 weeks and that they would call me to let me know. After 5 weeks, I called as I hadn't heard anything. I was told that the veil was in but they were waiting for the tiara and that they would chase it up. A month later I still hadn't heard anything so my mum called for me whilst I was in work. She was told the same thing. Then today I receive a phone call to say the tiara has now been discontinued!!!!!! I explained that I ordered it over 2 months ago and she just said "yeah I know, unfortunately, the supplier lost your order".

There wasn't really much of an apology. I had to chase this twice and if I hadn't I probably would be none the wiser that my perfect tiara is no longer in production!!!

I am SO furious. I know it's a tiny thing and no one else will probably even notice the tiara, but it was PERFECT Smiley sad and now I'm gutted that I won't get to wear it. And even more annoyed at the terrible customer service! Smiley sad

Rant over!

It's not a tiny thing and I don't think you're overeacting at all. the amount of time it takes to organise a wedding the last thing you need is to be let down by people who by all accounts 'should know better'. Personally I would write a letter of complaint and explain that this has set you back in your planning and really upset you. They may then offer some kind of compensation. you could have spent that two months looking for another tiara x

I would also be very annoyed. I'm having a similar problem with my shoes - bought them online and now the online retailer are saying they are having to find a pair in my size....yet they are still advertising them on their site!!

I had a quick look online for that tiara style - is this the one? Looks like you can buy it online... /brands/Twilight-Designs.html

Aww yay, you can still have you dreamy tiara then!

I've not used the site. But they do have a bridal shop in Leyland, Preston.

You can use paypal to pay with too which i always think is reassuring!

Have you thought about the shop if they could sell you the one you tried on? They shouldnt still have it on show & if they still have it, you should be able to negotiate a good price with all the faff you've been through with them.

Thanks so much for everyone's replies - I am currently waiting for the bridal shop to open so I can call them to discuss further. However, I've since been looking on etsy and come across another tiara which I love, but am unsure as I obviously haven't tried it on.

I know they are both a bit princess-y which isn't everyones cup of tea, but the only style which suited my veil. So... which do you prefer...?

    Original tiara:

    Or etsy tiara:

Sorry I can't make the first picture bigger.

    Advice welcome!!!

I think they are both lovely! I am so happy for you that your dream tiara is still out there!! Like someone else said, pay with PayPal and you will be protected if you are wary about ordering online ?

    UPDATE:

Just telephoned the shop and they have now found my tiara! Turns out it wasn't lost after all - it was in a box ready to be sent back to the supplier because they couldn't find the order it was supposed to go with...

Just relieved they have it so saves me having to order from somewhere else, but still shocked at the customer service.
