Is anyone doing a boudoir shoot as a prezzie?!

JST, 9 December, 2010 at 11:43 Posted on Planning 0 35

I really fancy doing one of these for my H2Bs wedding present and was wondering if anyone on here had done one?? How much were they?

I'm googling it at the moment and there look to be some great places that do it here in W Yorks..

I did an FYEO shoot in Tunbridge Wells about a month ago. Very pleased with both the shoot (I hate having my picture taken normally) and the results.

It is scarily expensive to buy the prints/dvds though, but I consider it a one-off.

I really want to do one, but just said in the other post i've done some "nude" shots on holiday before and he has the pics from that so not sure it will be very special.?

When I looked into it I was looking at about £300, but have a look on https://www.lastminute.com/ sometimes they have some cheap deals.

Ooh how much was it AC?

Random question but are you planning on putting the print on the wall?! Proudly displayed over fireplace in living room tee hee?!

Thanks for that kayl, that looks brilliant. One I've seen oop here is £100 for 2 hours. Then the prints to buy..

JST my prints are displayed in an album on OHs bedside cabinet for no one else's eyes haha! Sadly when OH had a room inspection his boss picked up the album and made some comment about my chest - as he was a senior OH couldn't say a thing and so now they are safely tucked in a drawer!

I paid £49.50 for the shoot (lastminute.com) which includes a make up "top-up" (lovely lady, very helpful and gave me lots of make up tips) ie everything but foundation really, the photo session and one print. I was there about an hour and a half in all.

I paid another £300ish for a folder of prints and got another free one as a friend took up the recommendation voucher.

Defintely not for over the mantlepiece, although I didn't do any nude shots.

I did a Secrets session with a HIB Teri M and loved it and think I benefited from the experience more than my hubby did. It's something I would only have done with Teri and my main advice to people thinking about it is to make sure you are comfortable with the person and their style of work. Most of the boudoir images I've seen by other photographers are just not my thing. My favourite image is one I'd happily show anyone so here you are. x

If no one minds a bit of shameless advertising, I am currently offering a package for Bridal Boudoir. I have a specialised site, and you may see my work at:

    UTTERLY DIVINE

This is an offer for Hitched brides only, so it is not being shown on the site/Blog - If you want more details, you may see it at my Hitched Page:

    Hitched Page

You do not have to have your wedding photography with me and I will not try to poach you from your exisiting photographer. This is a Boudoir only deal...

Shelly - It's not good is it? lol. Mine are on my facebook - and I promise they are not seedy! lol. There are some other I have where I might be a little bit erm fully naked (covered but obviously naked) but they are not on FB - my fave one is taken from behind and is just me in my pink frilly knickers with the words "princess" in diamante on the back.

You welcome to have a peek:

Nicola Grimshaw-Mitchell did some fantastic boudoir shoots for hitched members I seem to remember, and did a fantastic one for one of my friends recently.

Places, prices and packages offered will vary wildly depending on the vendor.

For example, I charge about £400 for a 2-3 hour shoot but I supply all the images to the customer.

Also, styles vary wildly. I usually use a large boutique hotel for my shoots as it gives more variety to the images as opposed to a studio which can be quite limiting.

I will use a studio and that knocks about £150-£200 of the package and there's less shots as a consequence.

It's a lot about trust, knowing your images will never see the light of day except to those you choose is a big deciding factor to some people. That and someones ability with photoshop.

I did one with Teri_M of Murakami Photography. I did it for myself as much as H (but H did love it). He opened it on the morning of the wedding.

My slideshow is here http://slideshow.murakamisecrets.co.uk/lisa_june_2007/ - Teri is well worth travelling for - Lynsey travelled from Scotland!

Haha these ones weren't the saucy ones... There are few I had to go onto the private beach for, I took my sister who had to hold the flash while I was standing there with my bikini top off - poor woman!!

I did the same for her though.. hehe.

Ooooooh yes, will have to put my thinking hat on. Dont want to tell OH and spoil the suprise. Plus he'd insist on being there for the shoot and all the pics would be of the back of his head LOL!

I would love to do one for H2B but there is no way i could even think about doing one as i had lost loads of weight a few years ago and have been left with loads of stretch marks on my tummy so its out the window for me☹️

I once heard that a well established and professional photographer got punched by a ladies partner for no other reason other than he suddenly decided that (after initially being fine) he didn't like her being photographed.

Personally, I never allow partners to be present at a boudoir shoot unless they are the same sex. The ladies friends, mums, chaperones, whoever are perfectly ok but guys with an intimate relationship are bad news.

I guess if you are verbally directing a lady on how to position herself for the camera the guys can read it as meaning something else. It just sort of creates an atmosphere that impacts on the shoot. Same thing happens with fully clothed pin up stuff as well.

Not that any guys ask to come to boudoir stuff I do so it's kind of a moot point. But it's a rule I put in place.

Totally different if I work with couples though.

After 3 babies my tummy is like a map of the London Underground! I plan to solve it by wearing a nice basque.

I'm sure you could do something similar Lou? Or maybe have like a floaty nighty thing?

I think my problem is the fact that i HATE my own body so much i am mortified at the thought of someone else seeing it.

What never ceases to amaze me is the look of suprise when I edit someones photos in front of them. It's like they never knew photoshop existed!

I think that's part of the problem too, stretch marks for example, aren't difficult to remove, neither is tucking people in.

    JST,

Come down for a weekend to *visit a friend*! ;0) And as far as stretch marks and other things which worry women go, this is what Photoshop was invented for! I often come accross this with pregnancy photography, and looking at the images you'd never be able to tell a single stretch mark ever existed!Women worry about a LOT more than they need to! And a basque is a fabulous idea, in any case...

Fear not and come on down!
