Is anyone dreading Christmas........

boz, 27 October, 2008 at 11:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

With the credit crunch and not a lot of spare cash about, is anyone not looking forward to christmas this year, usually I would have started prezzie shopping by now but with Mr B starting a new job (going from weekly pay to monthly) the spendy buttons are just not there, thankfully hes left an industry that is being affected, and the company he used to work for was only small so it looks like cutbacks for them are on the horizon,so he got out just in time.

Yes, me. I'm dreading it. Totally and utterly. I want to go to sleep and wake up in January.

I sort of am...not so much the credit crunch item (though we are spending less this year due to having had to buy a new second hand car after a no fault accident), but the family thing. Trying to negotiate seeing everyone and not upsetting everyone else has resulted in me and H probably not seeing each other now over the Christmas period.

It's an embargoed subject in our house ?

We are in the Az household. H lost his brother in June (he's one of five) and Christmaswill mean either the whole family being a drunked mess and upsetting MIL or a steely silence.

God I hope there's good telly.

Sorry, read the thread title but not the OP properly.

I'm dreading Christmas but for different reasons.

Although at 1.58 and dropping (exchange rate), it's not looking good for us either financially.

Me, we have saved for gifts so we should be ok on that score, although the people we usually buy for have been told it's a budget christmas and we won't be doing as much at all. Will be the first proper one without mom (last year passed in a daze) so would rather just sit this one out! Dont even think we will get the tree down as we go on holiday on the 28th so doesn't seem worth it!
