Is anyone else lucky? (work)

We 3 kings of Ori-tahdah, 19 December, 2008 at 08:57 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 15

Yeeeesssss! I finish work this afternoon, and not back until the 5th. There's only 6 of us in the company (4 directors & 2 consultants). 1 director went on maternity leave on wednesday, 1 (FIL2B) has gone to Portugal today for Christmas, 1 is busy with a client and the other will be looking after his children...

So it wouldn't be fair to leave the lonely 2 working up to Christmas would it ?

Well today was supposed to be my last day before Christmas but having managed to pick up norovirus/some sort of bug, I'm not there so won't be back till 5th Jan which feels strange!

As i work for a pharmaceutical company, the only days we get off are Christmas Day, Boxing day and New Years Day. So i will be here until Christmas Eve (still finishing at normal time) and shall be back into work on the 27th.

Probably why im not really in the christmas spirit, but hey ho!

No it wouldn't. That's exactly what's happening here and I'm one of them ? I only have to work mon & tue though as we had to take Christmas Eve off as a nominated day. I'm not back until the 5th then.

H has been off since 10th and goes back on the 5th. Normally he would only have christmas day off, so I am very pleased he's not working in a proper theatre anymore and is working in a school one instead!

I'm off as of the end of today and not back until the 5th - we've even been given the 2nd off as an extra day's holiday. Huzzah!

Working for a university hasn't got that many benefits, but the holidays are pretty darn generous. Plus all the students have gone home now so the place is lovely and quiet. They don't come back until the 19th - I'm going to get sooo much done!

I'm not working at the moment, so very lucky. Mind you, it does mean that I am solely responsible for cleaning, buying Christmas presents, organising and cooking all Christmas food. But I don't mind as I like those bits. Am loving being a 50's housewife.

    I'm with you Oriana!

I've just written our definitive Christmas food list which we're off to get tonight and all that remains for today is a few more cards to post and a good long dog walk in the fresh air.

Mind you, I have agreed to cook Christmas Dinner for my H for the first time in our 13 years together which is a bit scary ...

I am cooking Nigella's christmas dinner with a few tweaks, so will be sticking to her timetable <grimly optimistic face>

I have lost my list though and can't face writing the bloody thing out again and having to trawl through Mrs Beaton and Nigella. ?

The only thing I wish is that I had learned to drive as I would be able to get so much more done.

No, i work for a Pharma supplier, basically we deliver the drugs to the pharmacies. As we are open all year round (the managers are on call over xmas and N.Y) we don't get any extra time off at Christmas, but then we can't really, not in the sector that we are.
