A beautiful cottage in the lake district would be romantic.

What kind of thing is it you're looking for? and are you going straight after the wedding or at another time?

Center parcs is lovely, for that resort feel, with all the restaurants, the spas and treatments, the big swimming pools and different actitivities, but it can work out fairly exepensive, especially if you're going in the school holidays. Its also not too great for sight seeing as i don't know if you can or would want to leave the resort.

Renting a nice cottage somewhere might be nice. If you're interested in the area around Hadrians wall i can recommend a tiny but lovely one bedroom cottage which we got a very reasonable price on last summer. Stunning scenery, lots of walking, and museums/sightseeing to do. We went into carlisle one day, up to alnwick another to see the castle where they filmed harry potter, and visited most of the roman sites and did some nice walks along hadrians wall etc.

The lake district for similar stuff to hadrians wall. Again stunning scenery, lots to see and do, lots of nice walks and adventure actitivites.

a long weekend in London? you could have some nice dinners, again some sightseeing, see a show maybe, do some shopping.

I don't know if it would need to be 'wow' factor, you could have some lovely cosy nights and fun sightseeing and stuff but that might just be me.

Whereabours are you and how far are you willing to travel? ?

Also if you give us a rough idea of budget and how long you want to go for we might be able to suggest somewhere ... I think the Mr and mrs Smith website is meant to have some lovely boutique hotels ..

Sorry for the appalling spelling in the title, glad you knew what i meant! ... i thought lake district too so will have a google. Ebee our budget is about £500 and we want to go on the monday after the wedding 21 September and are happy to go for anything from 3 - 7 days. We are more about scenery than partying so nowhere too hardcore ? we are from essex and willing to travel anywhere except for scotland as it would be a bit too far x

If you're more about scenery then the lake district is definitely a good option. There are lots of beautiful cottages around, and lots to see and do.

Is hadrians wall still too far for you? the cottage we stayed in was lovely.

We honeymooned in Cumbria many years ago, stayed in a 'sun Newspaper' caravan for 4 days and spent most of the time off the beaten track driving around. It was gorgeous and the senery was stunning. From memory it took about 6 hours to drive there from Essex but it was well worth it. Another place which is lovely is the Cotwolds, Straford-upon-Avon is a lovely town as is Bath, lots of lovely little cottages and B&B's in the middle of nowhere and the countryside is again gorgeous. For places by the sea you can't beat the rugged shores of Cornwall

Its fine lovie, don't you worry about me. I'll just join the 'i have a mum who doesnt care' kleek lol

let us know where you decide to go. Mr delicious and i keep discussing honeymoons and holidays and can't decide what we want to do. His latest plan is for us both to write a list of all the places in the world we both want to visit and then compare them. ?

We stayed at the Windermere Suites in the Lake District for 3 nights in May for a 'mini moon' - it was fab, I'd highly recommend it. Its not cheap but it feels really special - ideal for a special occasion.

We're honeymooning in Cornwall and will be renting a gorgeous little cottage for a week in the village where Doc Martin is filmed. I can't wait! I think it's costing us between £500-600 for the week although £100 of this is a damages deposit which we'll get back at the end providing we don't break anything lol.

I just did an internet search for cottages in Cornwall but I guess it depends where you want to go.

Well, we can't afford to go away so are staying in my parents holiday cottage in porthleven (which is really high spec). (Cornwall)

Just checked availability and its free on that date for £420 for the week. it's got a view of the sea and is really close to restaurants and walks and I love the Ship Inn. Anyway, if you can forgive the shameless advertising on my mum's behalf this is the link, seriously worth a look, www.havencottageporthleven.co.uk

Sorry if it looks like advertising, just think they did a really good job with it!
