Nope. I'm only having them as found really cheap favour boxes. Otherwise, I was going to decorate the tables with foiled chocolate hearts, rather than a specific favour for each person.

We're not. I've seen too many just left behind to feel they're worth the effort. I'd rather spend the money on treating my guests to better food and drink.

If you don't want to have them, don't feel you have to!

I wasn't going to have favours but managed to find some really cheap boxes on ebay that double up as name cards - we are filling them with 2 chocolates (which were on special offer!) and because we are not doing a free bar in the evening, but mum and dad wanted to buy everyone a drink, we are putting a drink voucher in there for everyone! i have been to quite a few weddings and honestly can't tell you what favours we got - or even if we got any at all?! i think if you want them, then great, but i wouldn't worry if not!

We're not having favours either. I have seen to many of them left behind or forgotten at other weddings I have been too. I am like Cricket Bride, would rather spend the money elsewhere.

I had a clear out of some clutch bags earlier on in the year. I found several chocolates, a Welsh love spoon (that wedding was 4 years ago, ooops!) and a small photo frame. They all ended up in the bin as they weren't to my taste and I don't feel I need a reminder in the form of a small object to remember the great weddings I've been to.

The best favour I could receive would be something I could shove in my greedy gob at the time. I know otherwise, I'll only put it in my bag to be found next time I use it.

    Hi all..

I was dithering over this subject for ages..! but as we only had 35 guests i got "the purple one" quality street big ones from a friend who works at Nestle at bargain prices and it fitted in with the theme - i got cheap favour bags of ebay

but I was dithering over - more chocs, seed paper favours, and other little things - but glad i didn't - there were loads left over and even the venue said the night before don't go mad on the little things - they just end in the bin at the end of the meal, they said that they have seen perfume bottles, minature bottles of alcohol etc at the end and it all goes in the bin!

as above, spend the money on other areas - ie food and drink and the venue! thats where the benefits are.!

    xx

We are having edible favours (cookies) that double up as name places. If there are any left over at our wedding, I'm sure the children will do a good job of collecting and eating them!

Well I gave this a good old mulling over and have decided to get a mahoosive box of chocs to put out instead. It works out cheaper and any leftovers, I have been assured, will be scoffed by my children! I really don't think anyone would go home at the end of the night feeling badly done by if there were no favours though. And if you have budgeted for them but are undecided then like CB suggested, maybe spend a little extra on food or drink instead.

Like a few have said I managed to get some really nice boxes and will just fill them with chocolates or sweets I certainly havnt gave favours alot of thought and if I didnt have them at all I wouldnt be bothered as CB said you just end up binning them anyway. At least with food you know it will get eaten if not by the adults then certainly by the children.

Hotel chocolate. They have lots of yummy things but this worked out the most cost effective and thought it would give a bit of wow factor for the guests.

We are having favour jars filled with sweets... having reflected on it now though, I kind of wish I hadn't bothered! They weren't majorly expensive... just over a pound per jar, so definitely not more than £250 total for 220 guests, but still... could have used the money elsewhere and I just know loads of people will leave theirs behind and it'll be heartbreaking as I've invested so much time and effort in them! Definitely something I'd leave out if I was having my time again.

I am pretty certain we'll not be having favours- favours are bottom of our list of priorities. I'd rather use the money to pay for an extra drink per guest. Even with favours I've really liked at weddings I've been to, I've never kept them- they stay in my bag for a while and then get thrown away x

I agree with CB. We are having some sweets for the children and going to make a donation to Cancer Research (a charity close to mine and OH heart) people will get a little Cancer Research pin and a note explaining we have made a donation. Would rather do that. Then if they are left on the table at least the money has gone to a good cause
