Is it ever to early to renew your vows?

nic&al, 5 October, 2010 at 20:41 Posted on Planning 0 10

My hubby and I got married on the 25th September, so just 10 days ago. Sadly on the actual wedding morning my 18 month old son was taken into hospital. He is now home and doing well. He went in at 7.30 with my parents and we all had our fingers crossed he would be out for our 2pm wedding. Unfortunatley he wasn't and my nan went to the hospital to stay with him so my parents could come back. After much protesting that I wasn't going my Dad sat me down and managed to change my mind.

The wedding went ahead and in it's self was flawless but both hubby and I couldn't get over the fact 2 very special people were missing. We are now thinking of renewing our vows on our 1st wedding anniversary so my nan can experience it and my little boy get to wear a little page boy suit. Would people think this is too soon?

I still get really upset when I think about it and this has been the first time I have ventured onto Hitched since. I keep thinking of the 2 empty spaces at ceremony and meal. And the guilt of going ahead without them is overwhelming me.

I just want to do something to make it up to them, especially my wonderful Nan. xx

Ah chick try not to get upset. I think you shoud do whatever you like. Why not do an intimate family renewal of vows and have a nice meal, just the close members and a few close friends.

Ah hun, dont get upset and feel guilty. I say do what makes you feel happy, if you want to renew your vows after a year then do it. personally i think it sounds like a great idea. I would just like to say i dont think you have anything to make up to them for. Hope you feel more up beat soon xx

Oh my ... what a day of extremes for you...

Under your particular circumstances I think your idea is a crackin' one to renew on your first anniversary... its for a very good reason. Go for it.

Don't feel guilty tho' - you were between a rock and a hard place my lovely...

Go for it! You have very good reason to do it, and I'm sure everyone will be behind you. What a shame to have that worry on your special day. I really think you should do it.

That's a really awful thing to happen but what a reason to have an extra special 1st anniversary!!! I would definitely do it. In fact I would probably already have done it lol

I'd say do it - especially if its going to make you feel better.

What a hard position to be put under in the first place - bless you.
