I hope I'm not being rude, but are you asking the question in the way of can the dress be altered? or can I lose weight to fit into the dress?

    Ilovejay We are date twins!!

I think that dropping a few dress sizes is more than possible in the time you have. A lot of it will depend upon your own motivation & dedication though!

Have you considered following something like Weight Watchers to give you the structure and support that you may need? I can personally recommend WW as I went from a 14-16 to a size 10-12 some years ago on it within about 8 months.

Also congrats on getting a bargain dress- Flashy please if you can! x

if you put your mind to it then yes, but do you want that pressure?

I joined slimming world and within a year had lost over 3 stone, and had prob gone down 2-3 dress sizes....

I think the answer to that really depends on how determined and commited you are, as well as how well your body loses weight in the past. Only you can know. And only by trying will you find out for sure. Find a diet/plan that works for you and stick at it hard, assess as you go along how much you are losing and you'll get a good idea of whether you'll reach your target in time.

Umm.. I think you might be being a bit optimistic. I would have a back up plan in place just in case. You have to think about having enough time for alterations to be made leading up to the wedding. I would suggest you have in mind a dress from BHS or Debenhams or other places you can get dresses at short notice, just in case it gets to within 3 months of the wedding and you know you won't make it to your goal.

Otherwise- shell out money for a personal trainer, devote yourself to the gym at least 5 days a week and work out until your limbs shake from the stress and you can barely walk. Then have a salad and some lean protein.

Ok, so maybe that's slightly overstating it, but you will need to work hard. I'm a size 16, but I'm aiming to be a size 12/14 by the wedding, which is 15 months away, and I'm working out like a FIEND to try and get there, and even so results are very slow coming.

Hiya I kind of did the same thing. I got my bargain dress before Christmas in a size 12. I'm a tight 14 but it has been the motivation I needed to get myself to the gym and join slimming world as I cant afford to get another one!! lol

I agree with the rest its do able, but you need to follow some sort of plan, and if you can get a friend, Mum, OH to join you it will help as you can both push yourseleves along.

    Good Luck

Definitely doable if you do it properly...Weight Watchers or similar plus exercise. Dont be tempted by the quick-fix schemes you'll only pile it straight back on once you come of the scheme!

It's certainly achievable, yes. But you have to be determined. I bought my wedding dress off the peg and it was too small for me. I've lost a stone since buying it and am still losing, so yeah it's definitely possible.

    Absolutely.

All weight loss needs is a good, balanced diet, smaller portions, no junk and combined with exercise.

I think you can do it if you are determined. Worst case you don't feel like you can then £140 isn't alot to loose in terms of a wedding dress. Good luck and I hope you get to your desired goal.

I'd really recommend the dukan diet you just need to by the book, it's really easy to follow and u can eat as much as u like of the allowed foods. I've been on it since August and have lost loads of weight!

I would say it's a risky strategy as there is a significant gap between intention and action however the body can achieve what the mind can believe. It's 110% down to you!

As long as you have the determination and willpower then yes. If you have a back-up you may give up more easier.

My mum did lighter life, lost 4 dress sizes and 4.5 stone in 100 days. So it is possible - you just have to be mega strict and make sure you stick to it, then introduce food slowly as they recommend once you go back onto normal food. My Mum found it easy (suprising when you only get 500kcal per day!) because you dont have ANY normal food, so she wasnt tempted with big portions etc

Of course you can! I went from a 16 to a 12 in a year, twice! Just under 3 stone each time. Both times with Weightwatchers. So easy to follow and you can still treat yourself. I only put my weight back on because I had a baby, he is nearly 2 now and I've kept the weight off. I never did that much exercise either time, just walked a bit more.

You just need to decide you are going to do it and get on with it! You have a great goal and a dress you love to inspire you.

Go on girl, you can do it! ?

You can achieve (almost) anything if you want it badly enough!

The dress should give you a good incentive! In terms of exercise I can really recommend any of the Jillian Michaels DVDs - they´re tough but amazing for getting results!

    WSS!

I have lost over 2 stone in 9 months for my wedding and dropped from a big size 14 to a size 10 so it is definitely possible but it was hard work and it took that long because things kept cropping up (Christmas/other weddings/hens etc) that needed me to eat! So start now, if you lose it quickly it's easier to maintain it than panic diet at the end.

    Good luck!

I don't know where you can buy it, but you can borrow it in the shape of a friend / family member or even your HTB to keep spurring you on.

If you don't have that around you, join a group. I t doesn't have to be an expensive weightwatchers type group (good as they are) go along to your local Zumba / Step / Tums and Bums / etc. class. Its a win/win situation. Exercise to lose weight and plenty of new friends around in the same situation and you can keep encouraging each other.

I second this. Exercise classes added a whole new dimension of motivation for me. I've started to get to know the other regulars and being able to perform better over the time I've been doing the classes has been amazing. At first I would be doing all the easy options, but I'm getting much better at the hard stuff, and I know the instructor is proud of me and very encouraging.
