Is it possible to add straps to a dress I've already ordered?..

mummymrs2b, 28 February, 2012 at 21:12 Posted on Planning 0 6

I have already put the order in to secure the dress but not being measured until August time. I think I may want straps on it, to make me feel a bit more secure with my big b00bs and also may make me feel slightly more covered. Has anyone done this after getting a dress? Is it possible? X

I don't see why not, as long as they've got fabric that will match up.

I posted my dress just a moment ago. My straps are lace with beads and diamantes bit on, but you can't really see that from the pic...

I was going to get larger sleeves than the ones included with the dress. I was told when ordering the dress I needed about 1/2m extra material ordered at the same time as the dress so the colour matches.

I guess it depends on the type of sleeve/straps and the style of the dress. Mine was a sweetheard neck line, & the area under the arm went up to a point & this is where the straps came from.

I ended up keeping the existing beaded straps that came with the dress as thought larger straps just didnt go.

Shouldn't be a problem at all, this is what ive done for my dress, although I did order extra material in when they ordered my dress so that I can make straps with the same material. Have a word with your shop, am sure they can sort something out. x

If the shop won't do it and professional dressmaker will!

If it suited the dress, you could have straps that are completely beaded, therefore its not so important that the material is the same as the dress.
