Is it possible to mix two themes?

MrsCtobe2016, 6 April, 2015 at 14:45 Posted on Planning 0 9

So originally me and H2B weren't exactly going with a 'theme' we just eventually agreed on a royal blue colour so sort of just went with that. Now with all the lovely flashes that you hitchers give, I've taken a few ideas to make a bit of a countryside theme as the venue we are getting married at and the reception is out in the country so it just sort of fit. The thing is though I really really want to try and incorporate a 'travel theme' into it. We don't want to go over the top with it (even though Pinterest makes me want to do the complete opposite) we went travelling the world together and are always trying to go on holiday once a year to somewhere different, we even got engaged abroad. So I do really want to try and bring some of that into the wedding. But would it work?

I hope I've sort of made sense I always seem to waffle on ha

I think it's absolutely possible. Your table numbers and plan could incorporate places you have travelled to, maybe with pictures of the two of you on your travels as table names. Check out the map table plans on Pinterest.

Place names could be on luggage tags/made to look like boarding passes. Post box could be vintage luggage.

Might sound strange.....but.......blue + travel - something to do with oceans you've travelled over, famous waterfalls etc???

Its perfectly possible. You can mix and match whatever you want to get a day that reflects you and your OH.

Don't get too bogged down by the whole 'theme' things - your wedding is what you make it, not what someone else dictates it to be.

No, sorry. You can't mix two themes.

    ?

Course you can! There's no reason why you shouldn't incorporate a bunch of things you like into your wedding!

I say go for it too! We have 2 colours (lilac and purple) and 2 themes which are rustic (tree slices, hessian stuff etc) and marvel comics so if we can do something with those two themes I'm sure you can make yours work :-)

Of course, the day is about celebrating what is your and your OH's tastes and what you like.

You don't want your wedding to be like those anonymous ones you see templates for in magazines, you want to be able to identify it as your wedding.

I mixed Shabby Chic with Peacock - and it actually turned out well. (Corny though as my surname is Peacock).

    Thanks ladies.

I've definitely started researching how we can incorporate it a little bit. H2B doesn't want to go mad with it, which is fine but i definitely had to have it somewhere. Friends and family were shocked we were even getting married in England, they thought we would of jetted off somewhere anyways so it would be weird not to have a few bits ?
