is it safe to go to Turkey???

vikmast, 2 August, 2011 at 09:27 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hello, this is probably me just worrying too much, but we booked to go to turkey (antalaya or side) and am worried that turkey isnt safe what with the war in syria at the moment. our location is 350 mils from the border of syria, but watching the news last nite it looks like its getting worse and they are fleeing to turkey. we are due to fly out on tues 20th sept and not sure whether to change our destination or not. can anyone offer any suggestions, or is anyone going to turkey around this time or may have just come back

Girl at work came back from Turkey this weekend, all is well!!

If in doubt, check the FCO website, they will tell you if it is not safe to travel...

350 miles is exceptionally far. Check that website as recommended but I would think it would have no affect.

I think you will be pretty safe.

I am having a real trouble thinking of honeymoon destinations, as everywhere i think of or like the idea of seems to be having trouble at the moment.

So we are deciding on Italy instead!

We fly to Side on 30th August, getting married out there on 8th Sept. Can't wait to go, meant to be a lovely quiet (but expensive) resort staying at the Sentido Perissia :-)
