Is it worth ebaying non designer clothes?

Hugo Brambles, 5 March, 2009 at 20:10 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

I'm having a clear out and am wondering if it's worth ebaying non designer stuff? For example I have

Retro style t-shirts (Dorothy Perkins)

Jeans (Dorothy Perkins)

Gym stuff in Addidas and Reebok and some general holiday style capri trousers from Tesco.

I have some Monsoon things I plan on ebaying but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle of ebaying the stuff above (they are used but most stuff is as new having only been worn once or twice) and am tempted to charity shop them?

They might sell if you put them in a bundle. Don't describe them as "as new" whatever you do as fleabay are pulling things with that description at the moment.

From 12th March there's free listing for all items with a start price of 99p or less.

I have found that Topshop/Miss Selfridge/Gap stufff goes quite well, but I don't reckon you'll get much for DP's or Tesco. I would charity shop it personally. I hate having to bother packaging stuff and lugging it to the post office if it's only gone for a couple of quid.

THanks Carrot - all in a bundle together or tops together, trousers etc?

Ebay as pulling things 'as new' - why is that? Thanks for the tip I hadn't heard that.

Thanks Foo.....I did wonder that. Unless I bundle it. Or I could just charity shop it - be my good deed for the day!

Either would work re the bundle- I've seen a lot of tops or bottoms only but I've bought mixed bundles myself.

Another one of ebay's daft black and white rules is that things can be "new" or "used" but can't be "as new". There's been a lot of disagreement about it on the ebay forums but it looks like it's here to stay.

I had a huge clearout of clothes in good condtion jut too small/wrong style since I've had my son. I gave the whole lot (it hurt to get rid of them?) 2 black bin liners of stuff to the British heart Foundation. They take your details if you want to give them, and send you letters saying how much your items have raised. Its fab and give me a lift and makes me feel good about giving to them.
