Is it worth me taking a Top back that's been worn? Updated

Ofeelia, 23 October, 2008 at 11:43 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I bought a top 2 weeks ago and had it on for the first time last Friday and one of the diamonte stones fell out before I'd even got out of the house. I don't have the receipt and I've cut part of the label off at the back as it was sticking out.

Is it worth me taking it back? I'm guessing not.

Thanks everyone. I took it back and because I didn't have the receipt and because I'd cut the label out they wouldn't refund or exchange. They said if I didn't like that answer that I could speak to the Manager tomorrow! My H is printing off my card statement so I will take that in tomorrow. They said they thought I'd bought it at another store as a faulty item because of the missing label - I understand where they're coming from but didn't like being called a liar.

    If it's faulty I reckon it's worth a try.

I had a top (from Next - Shhhh!) which got loads of holes in it after I'd worn it and washed it about 3 times. I took it back and they gave me a refund straight away.

Rubbish quality, but fantastic customer service ?

I would say it depends where you bought it from and how much it cost. Otherwise I'd relegate it to the charity shop.

It was from New Look and it was £25 so a bit much to only where it was once.

Thanks for the advice - I might give it a go.

How did you pay for it, did you use a card? In the past when I've lost the receipt I've printed off the relevant page on my bank statement to show I did in fact make a purchase from the shop. It's worked for me.

I'd definitely take in back. I took a top back to River Island once that I'd worn several times and it had the stud things falling off. I didn't have the receipt and that meant that they would only refund me the sale price as I couldn't prove when I'd bought it, but refund me they did.

Definately take it back, I brought a dress back to Topshop yesterday after only wearing it once and hand washing it the thread on the hem was pulling away. I got a full refund. If they don't give you a refund without having the receipt I'd ask them to take a note that you had called and I'd wait until my statement came in with the purchase on it and then take it back again (thats if you can't find someone to print it for you).
