Is my dress too big?? *FLASH*

Miss Twizz, 18 December, 2013 at 23:55 Posted on Planning 0 14

I'm worried my dress doesn't look right at the back! It's lace up and it pretty much closes all the way up! The dress lady keeps saying it's perfect and that's how it should do up but I'm not convinced ?

I thought they were supposed to make a shape at the back. It feels perfectly secure as it is, it's not falling off me, I'm just not sure it looks right and what if I loose weight in the pre wedding stress weeks leading up to the wedding?? What do you think ladies.......

Hmm, you don't get to see much of the ribbon detailing do you? Which is supposed to be half the point....I would say its your dress, and if you don't like it, make them take it in a bit.

I think you're right, especially if you lose more weight. Definitely ask for it to be taken in. Beautiful dress by the way ?

I think it looks lovely but I would think that if you lost even just a few pounds it would be too big. Do you usually lose weight when you are stressed? If you do and how the lacing is now is as skinny as you would want it to be I would have it taken in a bit.

I think is beautiful and avoiding the "muffin top" effect, when a bit of the top comes out of the dress when it is too tight.

When is yout last date for adjustments? In 2 months your body might change due the anxiety of the date getting closer, so I'd wait a bit more to take it in if you can.

Otherwise, I agree with JontyDoggle who said is your dress, you need to be feeling 100% in it, so if you think it needs taking in, make them do so Smiley smile

    Good luck!

I think it looks lovely, there is enough detail around it, so i don't think it looks odd or not right... i recently went to a wedding where the bride wore a size 10 dress when she should have been in an 18 and where the back panel wasn't wide enough she had a lot of unwanted flesh on display, i think your dress is gorgeous!

I think it looks lovely as it is. However I do agreee with a lady above that if you do lose any weight it will too big. So if you have it taken in and don't lose any it will still fit you will just see more of the ribbon but if you do lose some it will fit and the ribbon will be as above. Are you trying to lose weight? (You don't need to by the way). Also do you have time to decide later?

Good point. Your dress appears to be laced as tight as it can pretty much. It is quite likely that you will lost weight between now and the wedding -l know a lot of brides who have from stress.

Thanks ladies, I do like it but I think I will see if they can take it in a bit just in case.

Rosco - I think you're right... If I get them to take it in a little. I'm not actively trying to loose weight, but I have been affected with stress before & lost weight. If I just get them to take it in a little it will allow for any loss but if I stay the same then there'll just be a bit more ribbon! It only needs to come in a tiny bit I think. Just in case :-)

It looks to me like your dress is meant to lace up quite tightly - rather than one of the v shaped-lace ones that are usually further apart. My dress is a v shaped lace and even though the one I tried on was two sizes too big and still there was a fair bit of space at the top of the lace up (the bottom was totally closed up) so this makes me think yours should look like the picture - and it looks nice like that.

Maybe wait until slightly nearer the day and get it taken in if you need to?

I too think it looks perfect. So many brides wear that style in the wrong size and get muffin top, so I think you've struck gold.

I think corset lacing should usually have a slight V shape to I. however I see way too many which are all wobbly or weird so I think your is absolutely fine. But it is YOUR day and if you are not happy then make them change it til you are satisfied : best of luck hun
