Is September Too Soon?

CP100, 23 May, 2008 at 12:33 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hello,

My boyfriend and I, after more than 10 years together, have decided to look at getting married.

Our chosen reception venue has offered us dates for next summer, or a cancellation for September this year.

The church is available for both.

I am undecided...Is September too soon?

I'm not stressed about the organisation particularly but I do worry about getting a dress on time (I don't want one off the peg from Debenhams) and also I don't want people thinking we are 'having to get married!'.

Anyone out there done it in that time, or less?

C

It can definitely be done. Getting a dress is totally doable but you will be tutted at by the Bridal shop people! It depends whether you wanna take loads of time over the planning. I would do it personally because I am very impatient and I'm totally sick of waiting for my wedding day.

    Congratulations on your engagement!

I think a September wedding could be done as long as you can get organised really quickly and are prepared to make compromises on some things. Having a church and venue available for the date you want is a huge part of organising.

A friend of ours got engaged on Valentines and is getting married in August... a mere 6 months later.

    Hi

I think a September wedding is entirely doable. The only thing is you might not have as much choice in terms of suppliers (e.g. photographers, videographers, florists etc as sometimes they book up in advance) but if you are prepared to phone around and use the resources on Hitched I don't think you will have any problem.

I am sure some bridal shop owners will be along shortly who can advise more specifically on the dresses.

    How exciting for you.

    Good luck

    TG

If you've got the finances in place to go for september this year i'd go for it. A lot of bridal shops have sales on near me at the moment so you may find that you can get a bargin sample dress.

    It's definately do-able.

    Congrats on your enagement.

    Congratulations on your engagement.

H2B and I decided to get married after the same amount of time - We'll have been together for 11 1/2 years when we get hitched in August.

Like everyone else says - September is doable but you might have some problems getting suppliers.

    Thanks everyone.

I am a bit of an organiser anyway - I'm always the one sorting group holidays!

I am not too concerned about having to phone around etc for things, that doesn't really concern me - it was mainly the essentials like the dress that was a big worry.

We are going to view reception venue again tomorrow with parents o get their thoughts.

So, if anyone out there can recommend suppliers in West Mids / South Staffs area then I'd appreciate any help you can offer!!!
