Is there any point appealing this penalty notice? (road fine)

baublegirl, 26 May, 2009 at 15:01 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

While driving on a red route in Sth London last saturday morning, I felt very sick. My H pulled over quickly and I jumped out of the car to be ill. He drove off straight away to find somewhere to park, so was only stopped momentarily. We've been sent a penalty notice for £120! Just for stopping for 2 secs.

I think we might as well just pay it, but H wants to appeal as literally we were stopped for such a short time. I don't think it matters - it's a no stopping spot, so I don't think they'll care.

what do you reckon?

I tend to agree with you, if you felt sick you could have been sick in a bag or something, I doubt the authorities will have much sympathy, how do they know you're telling the truth?

You can try but to be honest I doubt you'll get anywhere. Have they given you the option of paying half the fine within 28days? if so I'd do that.

I was caught with my rear wheels in a yellox box junction in Camberwell recently. The pictures show I was stopped for 32 seconds. I tried to appeal on grounds that a bus pulled out a few cars in front causing us all to stop but no such luck. I had to cough up the whole £120.

Blimey, that's a lot of money! I tend to agree with the others, I think they'd still expect you to pay. Otherwise people might try to appeal when they were dropping people off etc. bad luck, that was an expensive vomit!

Try Pepipo.co.uk for advice. The folk on there are quite clued up about things like this.
