Is this a good price? + flash

Kadence, 22 March, 2011 at 21:16 Posted on Planning 0 11

Okay so we are about to pay our deposit on a venue we have fallen in love with, but being quite a youngish couple (24 and 25) we havnt got much experience on the wedding front! So I just wanted to ask you guys if this seems like a good deal to you!

We would have the ceremony and reception both at the lowry theatre - but in two seperate rooms, and a private bar in between the ceremony and breakfast (see pics!)

This is based on 60 people in the day, and 100 at night...

Room hire for both rooms £950

Daytime menu £29.00 per head for 3 courses and coffee/chocolates (we picked the middle priced option as it looks yummiest!)

Evening buffet £14.00 per head (spanish style, olives, pitta, dips, wedges, salads etc...)

No set drinks package, we budgeted around £600 for reception, meal and champagne toast

Includes table linen, napkins and tea lights, fairy lights on ceiling and toast master.

Total comes to around £4,500 for all of that - is that good???? please help!

Actual venue - the lowry theatre, Manchester

ceremony room overlooking water at the quays

The wedding breakfast/reception room, which is round with a balcony bordering the whole room ?

I'd go for it- our package is £8000 for simular- 80 guests, exclusive venue hire, 3 course meal, recption drink, 1/2 bottle of wine with meal, toast drink, evening buffet for up to 150 and DJ for the evening, staff, menu's-linnen etc so for what your's includes it sounds like a winner!!

    Hi,

I would say that is a reasonable price too however I looked at prices for about 6 places to compare ours..I didn't visit them all just asked for the prices so maybe worth doing that to put your own mind at rest?

Looks good to me!! Prices vary massivly, but it depends what you want!

We're young too (same age as you two) but we're right at the end of our planning now, a month to go, so have gone through the whole process!

    Venue looks amazing!!

Thats fab everyone! thankyou! No DJ included but we are thinking of getting a proper scratch DJ for the evening to spice things up a bit because we both love hiphop music! lol. So saved a bit of our budget to have that - he will play the cheesy wedding songs till around 11pm though so we wont leave anybody out!

Thats why i ask, because I fell in love with this venue after only visiting one other so havnt asked around for other prices, this seems perfect for us and not too pricey ?

Looks reasonable to me. We've got a similar package, similar numbers and about the same price. I'd go for it , it looks lovely.

Definately a good one. Mine is £8000 for wedding breakfast & drinks only... a little pricey for a weekday wedding I know

Sounds like a good/average price! Maybe get another price to take there and try to get them to knock a few things down! Or maybe throw in a few things...like toast drinks! Doesn't hurt to ask!! We did and got a thousand pounds off and free toast drink! xx
