is this going to look awful together?

Little.Miss-Scatterbrain, 26 January, 2009 at 15:04 Posted on Planning 0 21

My colour scheme is black red and platinum, i should have gone for a white dress for everthing to tie in nicely but i really dont suit white.

i want my bridesmaid in platinum but am afraid its going to look daft and maybe i should have her in red or black instead, she will suit all these colours so its not a problem from that perspective, what you guys think?

i have seen this dress and i love it, thought we could have a black sash on it instead.

Personally I wouldn't have my BM is Platinum if i wasn't wearing white. I think black or red will be better. x

I'm afraid I agree with the others. The ivory and the platinum don't go together.

Not sure what you have planned for flowers but how about having your BM in black with an ivory sash to compliment your dress and red flowers. You could bring in the platinum with accessories.

I would say Red or Black Dress & then introduce the platinum in flowers by way of Ribbons or pearls in a silver.

Because thats basically what im wearing for my brothers wedding in may im bm, the sash is gold instead of platinum right enough but we're already having the same reception venue just don't want to have to many similar things, (sounds stupid i know.)

I love your colour scheme, it is very striking and it would be a shame to add another colour to the mix. Why don't you do your self a few mood boards (Sher always has some great examples) as sometimes it is hard to see just how different something can look just by changing the way you use the colours. If you do a mood board you may see that a deep ruby red bridesmaid dress would look stunning against your dress and the men's kilts or you may see that a black dress with a platinum sash and red flowers looks different enough to your brothers black and gold not to be a problem.

Hope you come up with a scheme you love!

I'd go for a deeper shade of dark grey than platinum - Dessy do some dresses in an irridescent taffeta that's a fab shade of dark silvery grey (it's called Pewter) and it looks GREAT with ivory because it's dark enough to look good next to ivory.

Platinum is ok with ivory, but might look a bit dull, partly because it's satin, so a flat colour without the different shades in it that taffeta has.

I think you can search by fabric on the Dessy website, so that would be a good start. Style 2745 would look good with your dress. Or if you prefer the idea of a different coloured sash, then try style 6561.

Your dress looks like it's taffeta too, so the whole lot would look really nice together.

I think I am the black sheep here, cos I love it! mind you you are talking to someone that has got the most outrageous wedding ring and having Bob Marley played on the way out of the church!!!

If you love it-go for it, its your day and why not be original? who says you have to wear white or bridesmaid have to wear pastals-its up to you!!!!

I'm sure you and your bridesmaids will look fab whatever you choose x

I don't think there's a need to introduce red at all if you don't want to. Why don't you go for black bridesmaid's dresses with a platinum sash, and then all have ivory flowers? If you really want just a hint of red, you could always bring in a few siam crystals just to tie the whole thing altogether.

I am having a Pewter taffeta dress and I am wearing ivory, you can kind of see it next to me in my dress, it does look blueish on the photos though but it's got a really good shimmer.
