Is this normal? Advice needed

Sparkle2015, 13 April, 2015 at 13:46 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hi all, with only 19 weeks to go to the wedding, I am getting a bit worried about the florist I have chosen. They came to see me in August last year at home. The appointment went great, we threw around some ideas and they went away to put together a package. After a week I had heard nothing so dropped them an email. Later that day I received my quote. I replied to them saying it was great and I accepted it and to let me know where and how much deposit I needed to send.

Anyway, life got in the way and I forgot all about it. Over Christmas I remembered and sent them an email asking how I pay a deposit. I heard nothing. In March I sent another email and heard nothing so I called them and left a voicemail. I then received a text back to apologise and that they were really busy and would email me that evening with the details. I didn't receive anything. I have now emailed and called (left message) twice more with no response.

What do I do? I haven't left a deposit so my gut tells me to send them an email and leave a voice mail cancelling the order and look elsewhere? They are a new business so not an awful lot of feedback out there about them, but they did come recommended.

I am sick of chasing them to be honest.

I don't think I could be bothered with that if I'm honest! Have a look at other florists, see if anyone is free and get quotes, if you find someone then you can ditch this one before it gets too close

It all sounds a bit too much like hard work to me, with 19 weeks you have probably got time to find another florist so I would speak to a few people and try to get something else booked. Once you have found another florist I would send an email to this florist saying detailing when you have contacted them and that there has been no reply and as a result you have completely lost faith in them and will be cancelling your order.

Have you had a contract or anything from them?

I would ditch them and find someone else - you are not going to loose anything and you have plenty of time.

Have you not paid any deposit yet?

If not then just walk away. Send an email stating that as you have not been given a contract or paid a deposit despite your requests, you no longer wish to use them.

As others have said, you haven't lost a deposit so I would look elsewhere too.

If you haven't paid anything there is no harm looking elsewhere...better now than 9 weeks time xxx

A good thing to keep in mind is the 48 hour rule. If they do not get back in two days, find another supplier. You do not need additional stress on the runup to your wedding particularly from a small new business, who should be providing you with even more of an optimum service.

If they are this unreliable at this stage, can you fully trust them to be on time for your wedding, or even to remember about it?

I had the same problem with my cake - funnily enough they managed to contact me within minutes of me emailing them to dump them!!

If you're not confident, then you will worry - so find another florist x
