Is this weird?

Doughnut, 20 February, 2009 at 21:05 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

I play Scrabble on Facebook with a bloke I used to work with who's really good at it. He plays my Mum now too - they play quite a lot I think. She's 60 next month and has asked me to invite some of my friends. I've invited him and H went nuts saying he'd think I fancied him, and if someone asked him in the same circumstances he'd think they fancied him. I think he's being ridiculous but he's in a right grump now. I know she'd love to meet him; she's quite ott and loves a good party.

I'b be really angry if Mr G behaved like that - he accepts that I have female friends and male friends an knows that they're platonic.

I can sort of see why it would sound odd, but considering they arent strangers to each other I dont see an issue. I dont really see why he'd think you fancied him for inviting him to your mothers birthday party, its not like you are asking him on a date when your husband wouldnt be there.

I was flabbergasted. He said the bloke would think I'd invited him over for a shag! He has met this bloke. I feel a bit funny about it TBH; he's not normally like this.

That sounds really odd, has something happened to knock his confidence recently?

That does sound a bit strange. Since when is 'Come to my mum's 60th' code for 'Come and have a shag'?

One of my friends has moved abroad and sent pics of her, her H and two kiddies over today on hols and her H is really buff in his beach shorts. I don't think he liked that. He's a bit overweight and I've lost weight recently. I think that might be it.

If MrD has met Scrabble Bloke and does not normally behave like this is there anychance that Scrabble Bloke has given him cause for concern out of you sight?

Does he know that the guy and your mum have been playing Scrabble? If not, I can see why he'd think it's weird; but if he does, then he's just being a bit paranoid I think.

Yeah he does know, but I don't think he knows that play as much as they do.

He's just admitted he went a bit nuts over it. Bah. I think he might be feeling neglected as I'm studying a lot in the evening rather than fawning over him and making him cups of tea which is what I normally do ?
