I need help! I am looking to get married next July/August in Italy and don't know if I should go with a travel agent or do it myself? Any advice would be appreciated :-).

I'm going to a wedding in Tuscany next year and I believe they sorted it themselves, they had to fly out to visit the venue and stuff though so it was extra work Smiley sad

I just recently photographed a wedding in Siena. The couple hired out a villa to hold the reception. The groom did the majority of the work, however they did have a local wedding planner mainly due to the language barrier to arrange the logistics of caterers and arranging with legal docs/translators for the ceremony as they held it in the Siena town hall. Not to sure who the planner was. I could find out if you want.

We've gone with Ionian weddings for our Greek wedding. They do Italian weddings too. It might not be your cup of tea to go with a package but I am having a relatively stress free planning process as so many of the little niggly elements are sorted for us.

Actually the only thing stressing me out is how little I have to do. I keep thinking I should be busier!

    Happy Planning

    K xx

Hi! That's great you are thinking about Italy, I booked my wedding there too!!! We booked through Thomsons, I have nothing but praise for them as they have made it so easy. First of all you need to get their wedding brochure and pick where you would like to get married and then inform Thomson who will also book your flights and hotel as well as your wedding package at the same time. You also pay a small deposit. The legal side is also not a big deal, we are aware of the forms that we have to complete, we need to go to the local registrars office to get a document stamped and also have a form to take to a solicitor to authorise who we are and this then gets sent to Thomson head office and they deal with the Italian authorities. We are marrying at Cloisters Monastery in Sorrento next august, it's a beautiful location. If you need anymore info let me know and I will be happy to help xx

I'm getting married in Italy too!

As first destinations, we was thinking to get married in Greece or Croatia, but we don't know anyone who has got married there previously. I have sent requests to a few wedding planners at both places, but at long last a friend of mine who got married in italy last year, recommended me her italian wedding planner: Danila from DAMA Wedding. She's is a fantastic and creative wedding planner - she listens and understands exactly what you want and then makes it even better with her own suggestions and ideas! She has a lot of experience arranging weddings and it definitely shows. No detail is overlooked and she has a reliable list of suppliers. ??
