It's finally my turn ...

Feb2014Bride , 3 September, 2013 at 11:49 Posted on Planning 0 11

Just got the call to say my dress has been delivered to the shop, i am not going to lie yes i did scream slightly in work.

Defiantly had one of them oh my god I’m getting married moments – sounds silly but it’s so lovely that i got the call on my mum and dad’s 36th Wedding Anniversary too.

However .... maybe the strangest thing .... i don’t actually get to see the dress until my first fitting ... in December?!? Is this normal??

The bridezilla in my thinks ... what if they ordered the wrong dress? Wrong colour? Its damaged?

I have a feeling i am being a tad dramatic??

How exciting ;-) Can you not ask the shop if they mind you going down to try it on before December?

I would definitely ask to see the dress before then! As I said yesterday, I have to go and try mine within two weeks. I'm sure your dress will be perfect but I would want to try it, just incase it wasn't! December wouldn't give you much time if ended up having to go back to the designer!

Thanks ladies, I totally agree with you. I think I'll call them tomorrow and ask.

Problem is their customer service is awful, they can be so rude too. When I got my dress I was made to sign something and one of the points was that I couldn't just go in the shop wherever I wanted to see the dress. That I understand but what if there is a problem with it.

Sounds silly I'm a grown woman but still them assistants are so rude and off putting ha.

If they're a bit snotty and you feel you need an excuse (YOU DON'T!) Take someone with you and say you want to see it (and try it on at the same time) to compare fabric because you're still sourcing materials for dresses/favours/something else and it can't wait until December.

Basically, get your own way. And then flash it here!

If I found the dress shop staff rude and it was ruining the experience for me I would go and pick it up and take it somewhere else for alterations.

It will cost you extra for the alterations but at least you will be at ease and enjoy it ?

If I found any of the shop assistants snotty then I would have just left the shop and not returned! I'm not sure if you got a good deal on the dress or if it was the only shop stocking your dream dress.....but I wouldn't have put up with rude staff. You've paid a deposit? Then you're entitled to at least see what your money has paid for. Maybe the thing in the contract just means that you shouldn't turn up unannounced as they'll be with other clients.....but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem if you phoned to make an appointment? Don't let them take the shine off this for you! Xxx

Thanks again for the replies ladies. The assistance were lovely in the beginning but once i paid my deposit got really snotty. They kicked up a fuss when i bought my 4 bridesmaids with me to try on the sample again, you are only allowed 2 people because of overcrowding ... we were the only ones in there.

I’m going to call them up today and say i want to see it, like you all say i have paid for it!

So excited to see it again!

Get on the phone :-) I had a phone call informing me after a long wait of 6 months that the dress had arrived and when would be possible to come and try it on and pay the remaining amount. It was all exciting but it's best to check everything! X
