It's getting real! Appointments to see venues :-)

I-go-by-many-names, 13 January, 2014 at 16:59 Posted on Planning 0 11

No replies needed I just wanted to share my excitement as we are finally going to see some venues!

The Hancock Museum (aka the Great North Museum)- some of you may remember me getting a bit ranty about this place as they were failing to return my calls, turns out their wedding co-ordinator left the organisation last week. Translated- sacked as she was s*** at communicating with potential customers! We're going to see the museum and Laing Art Gallery next weekend! Link below.

We are also going to see the Sage's rooms on 8th Feb.

Also hoping to get an appointment at BALTIC (my favourite!) some time soon.

Still haven't decided on a date but it's starting to get real as we haven't booked or bought anything up to now and got engaged in October. :-)

Glad you've getting to view some places!

We've seen 2 places so far..1 is defo out of the running and then the other is a potential!

Few more to see before we decide!

    Good luck

    Ahh, how exciting!!

I'm looking at my first venue this weekend (although we've both pretty much got or hearts set on it already).

Its making it all seem so much more real! And I'm sure I'm going to be even more excited come the weekend!!

Hope it all goes great and you find your dream venue! X

Aw good luck! We had to see all our potential venues in one day (as they are in Spain and we only flew over for a 2 days), we were exhausted (emotionally and physically!) by the end of the day! I had my heart set on one before hand - but knew the moment we pulled up outside that it wasn't the one.

The first venue we saw was 'the one' - we both had a massive reaction to it, got choked up .. Everything we saw after that we just compared to number one. Funnily enough, number one was the one our wedding planner didn't want to take us to - a bit shabby and worn around the edges - very 'us'! Smiley smile

Thanks for all the replies. Yes we wanted to get married in Durham where we met but I can't seem to find a venue that's up our street so we started looking at Newcastle, where we have also spent a lot of time together on days out etc. Just another query though- my friend at work told me today that you should always go to see venues with a date in mind. We don't have a date besides '2016' as the term dates for 2015/16 haven't been released yet (we need to marry in school holidays), do you think we should wait? I'd still like to go to our appointments even if it is just to narrow down a 'shortlist,' then when I have a better idea of dates we could go back and discuss it more seriously with management.

Has anyone else done it this way or do you think I should wait?
