I've booked first dance lessons!

froggy29400, 26 August, 2010 at 16:35 Posted on Planning 0 8

I'm really excited, I've booked first dance lessons, just a trial to start with (1 hour) but with the aim to upgrade to a longer package if we like it. It would be nice to have a few good moves and H2B said yes (I was shocked!).

Anyone's done this?

    Woohoo!

We'd like dance lessons too, but dunno how far in advance to book em. We used to do ballroom (very amateur - I just got excited after seeing Strictly one day!) and would love the chance to try and flash some moves on the wedding day!

Good luck - Dance the days away!

We chose the "trial"package for £60, then additional lessons for £50. There were packages for £110, £150, £250, depends what you want!

We are learning a waltz routine - complete beginners never done it before, although we do Ceroc.

It is costing us £17 per half hour lesson, and I think we will have had 8-10 lessons before the big day. Started about 3 months before, every other week at first then every week when it got closer.

Have really enjoyed having a wedding project that we can have to truely work on together.

Thanks I will have to get doing some research. They say that even an hour can make a huge difference.! But when me and OH have practised - it's not been good! haha So I think we are going to need the package!

Depends what you want, but if you want to learn a routine you will need more than an hour. Ask around for a reccomendation, because studios vary a lot in what they offer.

If you want ballroom dancing, you can find lists for your area with the registered associations. If you want something more freestyle, try Ceroc/Modern jive. We Ceroc anyway, but realised it couldn't be attempted in my wedding dress!

we really just want 2 or 3 moves so we don't end up looking very boring for 5 minutes!

My guests are in for a shocker then! I'm going to make the sit through 2 "first" dances ? Luckily our waltz only last 2 mins, and our surprise second dance will probably get everyone else on their feet.

Beware getting hooked! I went for "a few lessons" a few years ago and am now a proper dancing junkie

I managed to find someone on the internet that only charged us £35 per hour. I think we only had 4 in the end. We got on with her really well & I was so glad we got to do an exciting 1st dance., even though we made a few mistakes at the end as we'd been apart a week & only practiced for a few mins on the wedding day but without the music! That reminds though, a friend of ours has put our dance on you tube so I should email the link to our teacher!
