I've bought my dress! Shocked and stunned. And some advise please ladies

TheDitzyOne, 17 July, 2011 at 20:38 Posted on Planning 0 13

Please excuse my randomness, I'm still a little bit shocked over my weekend antics!

I went sopping with my mum yesterday and spotted a little dress shop, so of course, I had to take a peak ("only at the bm dresses mum, I'm still not decided yet"). Bad idea, as I came out after having put a deposit down on a dress!!

I was really shocked with myself as I'd planned to use the Bham ebay lady (I visited her shop and was more than happy with the quality of her work). I've now ended up with a dress that is the cost of my entire budget for the 6 dresses I need.

What makes me feel worse, is.................. I dont care its way over budget because I absolutely ❤️❤️❤️❤️ it!

Right advice, bit. Dress is a mermaid cut with a sweetheart neckline. Around neckline is a big band of bling that stops at the corset back. The bodice has a tiny bit of bling scattered through the boddice. Boddice is elongated, finishing mid thigh, and then comes out into the mermaid tail that skims the floor, no train. (would of been easier if I'd gt a picture, but I was so hyped up I didnt think)

What accessories, necklace tiara etc would you have with a mega blingy dress?

Ta ladies

THe top of the dress is about similar to this (bar the flower on the hip) . Obviously this isnt a mermaid cut, but gives an idea of the top of the dress.

Sounds lovely! and if you absolutely love it then it is worth it. Are you thinking of wearing a veil? if so what length as that does have an impact on accessories.

FWIW impulse buying for weddings is never worth it. Give it a few days and you may start to regret blowing the whole budget. How are you going to get the other dresses now? Are you going to put your BMs in high street dresses and hope for bargains in the sale? Or cut the number of BMs?

BUT if you're determined to go with it you'll need understated accessoried for a mega blingy dress or you'll end up looking like an overdone Xmas tree.

    I hadn't planned on a veil.

I will still have my bm dresses made, and although I have stretched the budget, DP and I have looked at figures this afternoon, and we can cover the additional cost, without having to go without too many things.

    Love it!!

I would keep the accessories to a minimum although you could have drop earrings or a bracelet. I would go with something like my Twice the shine 2 row headband https://www.3djewellery.co.uk/index_files/headbands_diamante_pearl.htm and the crystal and diamante wrap around bracelet https://www.3djewellery.co.uk/index_files/wedding_bracelets_silver_diamante_pearl.htm

    or a small tiara https://www.3djewellery.co.uk/index_files/simple_wedding_prom_tiaras.htm

I completely blew my budget for my dress too, but it'll be worth it even if it's only for one day

My dress is similar, that there is alot of 'bling' on the neckline. I dont want it to look to much so I have decided not to wear a necklace.

Also the lady in the shop advised because of the delicate material of my dress not to wear a bracelet that will nick the material. So I am having a simple pearl bracelet with pearl earrings that dangle down.

Oh and I also went over budget on the dress but worked the extra cost into the budget too.

    Yey!

My dress had a lot of sparkle on the neckline, so I wore pearls instead of diamonds / crystals. I had pearls in my side tiara as well as crystals to bring it all together.

    Sounds absolutely gorgeous!

I would keep your jewellery simple too. Perhaps go without a necklace but if you really want one maybe just a simple small pendant. Some drop earrings and simple hair accessory would look nice. You could probably get away with a small bracelet if you wanted one but don't really need one in my opinion.

Take a little look at my website below for more ideas!

    Glad you've found "The One".
