I've found my dream house

jelly baby, 13 July, 2009 at 14:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

But we absolutely can not afford it.

I often have a little nose around Right Move but generally find that even at the ridiculous price end of things there is always something that means I don't like a house as much as the one we have now. I looked today at what was for sale in a lovely little village near us and have found mind - and H's - dream house. It is absolutely stunning, perfect location, just what we would want to move to .... but we can't afford it :-(

This is it - please can people find things wrong with it so I won't want it any more

Oops - no idea why that link is so long, sorry

But you've already said what's wrong with it, the price.

I'm sure on that budget i'd find a place I couldn't find fault with either but if you can't afford it then surely that's that.

You don't want to live in Poppleton, you'll never get let out on to the A59 to get out of the village! I'm trying to help!

The energy efficiency and Co2 ratings are very poor so you'd be spending loads on heating etc through the winter.

    Does that help!!

The kitchen is far too mordern looking for my liking - doesn't "match" with the rest of the house.

If you bought it and it's out of budget, you'd have to eat baked beans forever. Own brand at that.

You're helping. Particularly getting out on to the A59 - that would be horrendous. At least where I am now we have traffic lights so we can get out.

Baked beans are not a problem - Tesco own brand on toast is one of my favourie meals, probably not so good to feed the baby on a diet of baked beans though.

...but baked beans forever is a whole new world. I only managed for three days when I bought my new car (the purchase of which hinged upon making such cut-backs, lol!).

Ok, forever is a long time - you've convinced me. I hope the car was worth it :-)

Unless you have horses or other livestock and are used to looking after land 5 acres is quite a bit to look after by yourself. In fact even with horses its a total PITA ?.

If you have got horses then the 5 acres is a bit useless really as you would probably need to spend another £50,000 on stables and a menage (if you could get planning)

Agree with W_W- 5 acres is a bit of an in between amount of land- not enough to farm or let to a farmer but too much for the average person (would be a nice amount for horses but as said, you'd need stables etc, also it doesn't look great quality for horses). Lots of work either way. You could have a few sheep, I suppose.

I don't like that brick fireplace very much.

That is a nice house in a nice area, infact if I had the money I would buy it. Sorry I know that doesn't help 😄

I thought you meant 'dream house' as in 'would like to move somewhere a bit bigger, isn't this one lovely' rather than dream house as in 'If we won the lottery we'd live here'. ?

We're moving on Weds and I didn't look at anything over £200k as I didn't want to torture myself.
