i've thought of an irrational hate

AnnaBanana, 25 June, 2009 at 15:13 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 21

Im a bit late on SophieM's thread from a few days ago but i can't find it!

people saying "yarr" or "yarg" or "yerps" instead of yes. I don't mind yeah or even yep, but the others make me ?

oh and when girl's have half peeled nail varnish - a girl at work has it like that constantly, its almost as if she did it on purpose, just random bits of nail polish on her nails, and not even on all of them!

ETA apoligies for the random outbusrt ?

I think 'yarp' as a 'Hot Fuzz' thing, isn't it? Never heard of yerps though! (and I rarely wear nail varnish because I know I will be chipped nail person while I fail to be bothered to remove it)

I say yarp and narp (hot fuzz stylee) but only to my OH as I fear others will think Im a div.

Edited to remove my irrational hate as seeing it wrote down made me want to throw my laptop across the room!

I've never seen Hot Fuzz or heard yarp or narp!

I hate the word snog, I hate hearing it and saying it, does that qualify as irrational? ?

I never understand this irrational hatred thing. I find that all my hatreds are perfectly rational, if only to me and nobody else ?

me? I was talking about yarp/narp still (which doesnt annoy me in the slightest, even if I do say it in a funky voice). My irrational hate (one of many) is 'oooh noes'! I dont know why, it just grinds my gears!

For some reason the fact that HE says it makes it worse, it might be ok with other people. told you it was irrational ?

I think I may say it like your MIL! Although its more 'mundy, chewsdy'. In my defence....im northern and like to annoy the southerners around me who laugh at how I speak.

He says 'wedensday' if that makes sense. It really bugs me. So much so that when he says it I spend the next 10 minutes (in my head) saying 'its WENSDY'. I may be just as bad as him now I think of it! ?

Oh, that's how I say it!

But then my folks sent me to 'speech and drama' lessons (read elocution) to stop me getting an Essex accent (they're from Ayrshire - we moved down when I was wee) so I must be right!!

All together now..."How now brown cow?" ?

But it sounds so wrong. Not that Im saying Im right. It must just be him....I have a long list of thing that he does that wind me up. He tried to walk in my path the other day (near enough pushed me out of the way) but then a bird pooped on him so its all good!

? Not a pal of yours then?

I have a colleague that stands far to close to me when talking (not just me, no special treatment) even if I keep backing away! She is senior to me and I have a great deal of admiration and respect for her but if I didn't know better, and if she didn't do it to others too, I'd think it was a come on!

Not quite. At first, it was horrid...then it got better...then it was fine for a long time....then I had a dream that we kissed and now I really dont like him again!

I have a colleague who does this. It's technically correct to pronounce the d, but she's the only person I know who does it.
