Ivory or white??

Fay105, 15 April, 2011 at 17:30 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi all,

Am going to pay for my dress tomorrow and am having 'wobbles'. I love the dress but am thinking I should have gone for white - I went for ivory as im very pale and my mum said it would be more flattering!!

What have you gone for? I do think white looks 'crisper' if that makes sense, although I tried the dress in ivory and fell in love with it like that??

Have you tried a white dress on? its the only way you can tell if it will suit you. White didnt suit me at all with my fair skin, it made me look a bit washed out. My dress is a lovely deep ivory which I felt much more comfortable in Smiley smile

If you are able to, hold both colours up against your skin. You'll be able to see instantly which one is better for you. That's what I did because I was pining for a 'white' dress and in my head my ivory dress had gone from ivory to a dark cream! But when I looked at the dress again I realised it was still what 99% of the population would call a "white dress" and the ivory made my skin look lovely whereas the white made my skin look really grey. (I have dark olive skin.)

If you're pale then chances are white will make you look washed out, it did for me anyway. When I tried on an ivory dress the difference was amazing x
