Jam jars

Foote2c, 23 December, 2012 at 19:45 Posted on Planning 0 16

Having saved jars since we got engaged in June and with the wedding on Saturday I could just cry. I was about to tie the ribbons on the top and dropped the whole box of 25 jars. Emergency re think bearing in mind it's christmas....

OH NO!!! im so sad for you! do you have the funds available to nip to lakeland and buy some new ones unused? or perhaps buy a mixture of the cheapest tesco value range foods/sauces in jars, empty, and clean to replace your broken ones. I know its a lot of wastage though... unless you were rethinking a totally new idea not involving jars?

Good plan, I've also put out a plea to friends and family in case there's anyone who hasn't had a pre Christmas trip to the bottle bank.

This. How much is Tesco value jam? 50p? Don't buy "proper" ones from Lakeland/Hobbycraft/etc.

Lovin 35p! Family are going through their cupboards and fridges for out of date stuff.

The good news is I did find a Christmas puddi g in the cupboard, but it went out of date in Jan 2009, whoops.

Thank you all. Mum is of to tesco tomorrow for some value jars, friends (via the wonderful world of Facebook) have searched out about 20 jars, and I no longer feel the need to cry.

Hitchers are just such a nice bunch of helpful people. Kristabubble, thanks for the offer, i think we have it covered now, o1 good luck on Saturday, fingers crossed for a dry sunny crisp winters day. Goingto the chapel thank you for your searching and support.

    Happy Christmas one and all.

Im new here so forgive me, but I am curious to know what are you using the jam jars for, considering my mother has a box half full under the stairs?

Phoenix09, I'm using them as tea light holders. I have 8 big coffee jars to light the path to the church, it will be fairly dar by the time we come out so thought it would be romantic.

The rest are for tea lights on tables as centre pieces (sourcing flowers for a December 29th wedding got complicated to plan in advance) we have 5 per table in different sizes. The original plan had been to tie ribbon around each one t match the colour scheme but that went out the window when the box crashed to the floor.

However, with the advice form some fabulous hitchers and lovely friends, I now have more jars than before and a better mix of shapes and sizes.
